Checking in on 3/17/20

Tuesday, March 17th

Hello everyone!
I hope you are all staying healthy. I miss you all! I sent a folder of papers home with my language arts and math students on our last day of class. I am waiting to hear from Dr. Hollister and Mrs. Andersen that we are allowed to start working on those things together. In the mean time, you can keep learning alive at your house.

Language Arts: You can keep reading your book packet books or other books for fun. You can write stories and post them on Seesaw for others to comment on.

Math: You can keep practicing flashcards, go on Prodigy and ST Math, or practice skills on IXL.

Everyone: You can start a Genius Hour project at your house where you explore and learn about a topic you are interested in.

Remember, you can email me anytime you want with questions or just to say hello.

Take care,
Mrs. Muhr

Spaghetti Dinner Postponed

In concern for your families’ health and welfare, PTO has decided to postpone the spaghetti dinner. If you already purchased tickets, please hold on to them. They will still be good on the new date. We apologize for any inconvenience but appreciate your understanding. We will notify you as soon as the new date is determined. If you have any questions, you are welcome to reach out to Mrs. Sensenig at 717-207-8898.

Because Breckock Cares Club- rainbow appreciations

Last Thursday was another club day at Brecknock. Students excitedly hurried to their club location for the last 40 minutes of the day to have fun exploring a passion of theirs.  Miss Erb planned an activity for our “Because Brecknock Cares Club” students to do something kind for some of the adults in our building.  The students worked in pairs to create a rainbow of character traits that they appreciate in each adult. The cloud said “You are our rainbow on a cloudy day. Thank you for always being….”  Rainbows were made for the nurses, secretaries, principal, cafeteria cooks, recess monitors, counselor, custodian and specials teachers. Ask your third grader to fill you in on their club activity today.

Genius Hour- February presentations

We have continued our Genius Hour projects this month. Students are so motivated and excited to research a topic of their choice and prepare a project to present their learning.  This month four students from our class presented their projects. We’ll keep working on our research and will have more projects to present next month.

Kiara shared how earthquakes form.
Delia introduced us to Marshmello (a DJ).
Trey shared information about go-karting.
Micah made a book to show us how he learned to draw astronauts and aliens.
