Chick update- day 9

Today Jeff and Alex were the Egg Helpers.  During Science class we “candled” the eggs.  This is when we shine a very bright light through the egg in hopes of seeing a chick growing inside.  The dark eggshells made it a bit difficult to see.  Everyone got to see one egg with a tiny chick, an air pocket, and lots of veins.  We also saw an egg that doesn’t appear to have any chick growing inside.  Unfortunately it seems we might have quite a few unfertilized eggs in our batch, but we’ll keep incubating them just in case.  We also lost an egg today when the shell cracked during a turning.  We now have 24 eggs.

Trail Mix

Today my “My Sidewalks” reading group made some trail mix.  We read a recipe together and then mixed our own baggie of raisins, Chex cereal, graham cracker fishies, pretzels and M&Ms.  The kids had fun enjoying the treat.  They might even be inspired to make their own trail mix to bring to school for snack time!

Gold Record Award

IMG_2352

It was announced today that our homeroom class is this week’s recipient of the Music class Gold Record Award.  Mr. Goodman awards this gold record each week to the class that has earned the highest number of class points.  Points are earned for good behavior, participation, and using nice singing voices.  I am so proud of my class!  We are displaying our gold record on our doorknob for all to see.
