Aaron Mihalcik – Laborer – Mihalcik Mowing

My name is Aaron Mihalcik. I am a senior at Garden Spot High School. The business I work at is a family business and it’s called Mihalcik Mowing. It is property maintenance. My daily tasks are different every day since I am all over the place at different properties and doing different things. We do lawn mowing but we also trim bushes, clean up trees from storms, fix fencing, clean out flower beds. We do spring and fall cleaning up of leaves and get things ready for the next season.

Now that the season is winding down, we are cleaning up leaves. That is a large job to do since everyone wants it done before the holidays and the snow. We will next be working on repairing and replacing broken fence posts and rails throughout the one job we work on. Its a old horse farm with a lot of acreage. Once that’s done we will have smaller projects to work on. Then once it snows we will have snow removal. After all the snow there is some down time then preparing for the spring. We will have to get all equipment ready for the new season. Then it’s back to full time mowing, mulching, preparing flower beds for the summer.

I have grown from this experience in that I’m more responsible, dependable, and appreciative. Many of the customers are not able to maintain their property so they depend on our hard work and care for their property. This position has helped me to see that I would like to pursue my career in this field to one day have my own property maintenance business.
