Luke Martin – Social Studies Education Internship

I am Luke Martin, and I am interning at the Garden Spot High School campus this semester. My mentor is Mr. Trok, and I assist in his 4^th block Honors World History class.

My main tasks throughout the day when I am working with Mr. Trok are creating Warmup and Exit Slip papers for the students, and coming up with the questions for each. I also lead the class in discussions periodically, as well as teaching the class on occasion. It is extremely rewarding to help students and see them understand and learn a new concept. One of the other extremely rewarding things is to see how your students grow throughout the semester.

Overall, this internship is allowing me to learn the basics behind teaching, both the prep work, and the lessons themselves. I am being introduced to the very fundamentals of teaching in a way where I also get to teach. It is an incredibly fun and rewarding process for me.
