Pathways to Success

Garden Spot High School

Dwight Weaver – Electrical Co-Op

Hello, my name is Dwight Weaver.  I am a senior here at Garden Spot High School. I decided to do the Pathways2Success Cooperative Education after my brother Devin Weaver did it his senior year.  Devin explained to me how he was able to go to school and leave early to go to his job while getting credits.  That sounded like a great opportunity for me.

When I started the Co‑Op Program, I started with the job I worked over summers all of my high school career at Brecknock Orchard where I helped them with their fruit harvesting and general farm work. While I worked at Brecknock Orchard I knew I wanted to go into electrical work, but I didn’t know where I was going to work or if I wanted to work on the residential or commercial side of electrical. The Co-Op class helped me explore electrical careers by allowing me to go on job shadows and explore training programs within the area. As a result, I now work at Town & Country Electric and Plumbing.

I started at Town & Country in December.  I work under an electrician, doing tasks that he gives me thing to do such as installing receptacles, switches, light fixtures, floodlights, and more. We have worked in some places you might know like Lickity-Split, Garden Spot High School, Garden Spot Fire Rescue, and New Holland Auto Group. When I graduate, I plan to continue working at Town & Country  Electric and Plumbing.
