I am currently reading the book The Perfect Marriage by Jeneva Rose. This book cover is very eye catching and it is a mystery/thriller. Super Summary says “The Perfect Marriage is a psychological thriller by Jeneva Rose. It tells the story of married couple Sarah and Adam Morgan. When Adam is charged with his mistress’s murder, Sarah—a top criminal defense attorney—defends him. Adam is nonetheless convicted of his mistress’s murder and sentenced to death.”  This summary made me very interested in the book and after I read a few chapters, I thought the book was really good and I can’t wait to finish it.

Independent Novel Project – Diary Write

Dear Diary,

Beginning-

I never thought I would be trapped in an escape room. Especially by someone I didn’t kn0w. At least I had my friends with me. Mint, Alessa. Oh, and Alessa’s boyfriend, Miles. I’m kind of shocked they got together even though they met yesterday. She doesn’t know but, I like Miles. But, I am pretending I don’t even like him as a person. We are screaming at the camera to let us out but there is no response. I found a hatch that I open, but a girl comes forward and slams it on my arm. The same girl Miles was talking to at the park last night. My arm starts bleeding and I am feeling lightheaded.

Middle-

My arm is feeling a little bit better. We’ve been stuck in here for a few hours and there has been no sense of direction in this room. Although a piece of paper came down a shoot in a ball confessing Miles was with her. The lady that is holding us here. Miles is telling us he doesn’t know what she’s talking about and Alessa is of course sticking up for him. But, me and Mint thought there was something off about him the whole time. Even though I had feelings for him. Alessa found out about that too and she said I was just mad that I couldn’t have him and that’s why i’ve been making accusations against him. Which isn’t true.

End-

Miles just confessed that the girl holding us here is his sister. We are all in shock, including Alessa. He explained that she was vengeful because when her house caught on fire, the firefighter (who was Alessa’s dad) didn’t save her parents. Miles knew about this plan but he thought that is was only to scare people and not to let anyone get hurt. At that moment, a match was thrown into the escape room and a fire broke out quickly. We thought we were going to die until we heard the firmen knocking down the doors. They carried all of us out and to the ambulance. But, Miles sister was escorted to the police car. Now i’m relieved to be out and with my family. I am never going to an escape room again.

Independent Novel Update & Project Choice

After reading Escape Room by Marrel Stoffels, I thought the book was pretty good. It was a really good thriller and I never got bored. For my project, I am going to do the diary from the main character. Although this is a book of many point of views, I will just pick one person and write about their point of view in the diary. The person I am going to pick is Sky because there is a secret revealed about him in the middle and he also gets injured in the beginning. So I think that he’ll be the most interesting character to diary write about.

Does gum improve concentration? After being very curious about this topic, I decided to do some research about it. According to Scientific American, “The researchers say that gum increases the flow of oxygen to regions of the brain responsible for attention. More oxygen can keep people alert and improve their reflexes. Research also shows that you won’t get the same effect by just pretending to chew gum.” They also say, “Those chewing gum also maintained focus longer during the exercise.” These statements prove that chewing gum helps people remain concentrated within any situation. So if your having a troubled time focusing, throw a piece of gum in your mouth.

I just finished a book called The Cellar by Natasha Preston. According to Liv The Book Nerd, “When sixteen-year-old Summer Robinson goes missing one night, her family, friends and boyfriend are devastated. Nothing ever happens in Long Thorpe, so the disappearance of a school girl shocks the whole community. The police waste no time in launching a search and investigation, but with nothing to go on and no trace of Summer, hopes of finding her quickly fade.” After reading this book, I thought that the beginning was really strong and the pace of it was perfect. The paragraph structure was written beautifully. Towards the middle of the book, things started to get really boring. The same thing was said over and over again and I started to get a little bored. The figurative language in the middle got really dry and it didn’t make much sense. The book would’ve only been 150 pages if what happened was only explained once. When I got to the end it began to be an exciting thriller again. The reunion that happened between the characters at the end was really beautiful to read.

Book Choice

For my novel, I chose Escape Room by Maren Stoffels. I chose this book because it is a mystery/thriller and those type of books interest me the most. I think this book is good, it has a great plot. After reading the first chapter, I thought it was something I definitely wanted to keep reading because it’s a book that has many point of views and I like those types of books.

Romeo and Juliet Alternate Ending

As Juliet awoken from her deepest sleep, she noticed Romeo on the floor, possibly dead. Juliet starts shaking him repeatedly back and forth. “Wake up you idiot.” She demands without shedding a tear. Friar Laurence walks into Juliet’s tomb, looking confused. “I think he’s dead.” Juliet tells Friar Lawrence. “Oh… I guess he didn’t get the message.” He replies. “Are you kidding me? I’m supposed to leave this town and never come back. Now I’m stuck here for good.” Friar Laurence begins to walk towards Juliet. “Juliet, your husband’s dead.” She looks down at Romeo and looks back up at Friar Lawrence. Juliet just wished to leave the town to find new experiences, travel the world. She didn’t actually love Romeo. But, her heart breaks because of the time she wasted.

Book Novel Project Choice

The book Dead Girls Can’t Tell Secrets by Chelsea Ichaso was a very great book. It was written at a very steady pace and the events lined up perfectly. A eye-catching hook with a lot of amazing plot twists as you begin to read the end. This book was about a young girl named Piper who goes on a camp retreat where her sister, Savannah, went the night she was pushed of a cliff. Piper begins to reveal the secrets of what happened the night Savannah was pushed. But, Piper isn’t sure if Savannah will wake up from the coma she is in. For the upcoming book project, I chose to make an ABC’s book about it.
