Personal Narrative

The Two Days in Delaware

One day my mom said to me. “Abby we are going to your grandparents house.” I was over the wall excited about it. Then I couldn’t wait so I started planning what we were going to do. I went on my tablet and searched up. “activities to do in Delaware” So many things came up. I was searching and searching and searching… until I found something. It said “Carving pumpkins for the whole family plus make scarecrows for the yard.” I said to myself.

“This is PERFECT !!!” Then I wrote a list. It had “Things to do at Delaware” the things that were on it were. Go see a movie, go to the park, have a coloring contest, cook breakfast, eat dessert every night and do the carving plus scarecrow activity. Then I went to go show my mom the list, and her face looked so surprised.

“I don’t know if we can do all this.” She sadly explained to me.

“Well why not ?” I kindly asked her.

“First of all it is too much money, second of all it is going to be cold the whole time we are there. Then third of all they all cost money besides cooking breakfast and the park. We have to get the supplies for the coloring contest and to get in the scarecrow carving pumpkin activity you have to pay 15 dollars for each person, and we can’t go to the movies because there are no kids movies out yet.” She told me.

“Show me what the weather will be like. NOW !!” I shouted at her.

“Okay Okay miss bossy pants.” She said to me.

“Oh… I guess we can go and do all this!” She explained.

    “Really !!!” I screamed.

“Yeah it is supposed to be cold all next week… not this week!” She surprisingly told me.

“YES, YES, YES, YES I TOLD YOU I TOLD YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!” I shouted in her face.

The next morning we woke up extra early. Specifically at 6:00. My mom and sister started packing at about 6:30. While I was practicing cello. Then finally we left after about 3 hours of driving, sleeping and eating in a car the whole time. We finally got there. It took me about 10 minutes to stretch and get out of the car. It felt soooooooooo good to stretch. Then I helped carry all of our bags in the house. Then I realized something was different.

“Wait a second… did you do something to this house.” I said suspiciously.

“Should we tell her what we did ?” My mom-mom asked my pop-pop.

    “I guess… we re-painted everything! Doesn’t it look AMAZING!!”

“Of course it does.” I said. Then I found out that later that night we were going to go to Ruby Tuesday’s. I was over that moon excited about going.

When we got there I ordered the salad bar and mac-n-cheese with Root Beer. My sister ordered corn dogs. Which was a huge surprise to me because she hates corn dogs. Then of course she only ate one. Also did you know that with whatever you order you always get a side of fries! That’s CRAZY!! My sister also got grapes and Coke. Then we went back home and played Parcheesi and watched a movie. We watched Cinderella. Then we went to bed. The next morning I woke up at six a.m. Of course nobody else was up. So I played my tablet. Finally everybody woke up. For breakfast we had pancakes, BACON, milk and bagels. It was AMAZING !!! Everybody loved it because I made it. Until 11:00 a.m. we just hung out watched T.V. and played games. Plus we ate a little. Then me my mom-mom my mom and my sister. All went thrift shopping till 2:00. We found a lot of good stuff. I got this really cute shirt, a pair of shorts, a dress and a lot of other things. But the thing is that we NEVER ate anything. So as soon as we got home we all were starving. We ate SOOOO much for lunch. I felt sooo fat !! When we were finished eating lunch. I took about an hour nap then we went on a walk. While we were walking… we were about halfway it started raining !! We couldn’t turn back now so we had to run/walk all the way back !! It was SOOOOOOO much fun !! Me and my sister were dancing and leaping i n the pouring rain. When we got back we had steak for dinner then went to bed extra early. So we could have enough energy for the scarecrows.

The next morning I woke up early AGAIN !! Then went out into the living room, and watched TV. Finally everybody else woke up. For breakfast we had eggs, MORE BACON, juice and toast. It was pretty good !! Finally it was time… time to get ready for scarecrow making !! I was sooo excited to make one on my own. It was time to go !! We all hoped in the car, and drove off as fast as we could. When we got there, there was A LOT of people making scarecrows already ! We thought we would be early !! First you had to pick out the clothes and cut holes in them. Second you had to put them on and stuff them REALLY good with hay. After that you tied it to the scarecrow stick. That was the hardest part ! [For me anyways.] Finally comes the accessories. I put a necklace, a purse, a hat and a bracelet on my scarecrow ! But the hilarious thing was that it was a boy !! HAH HAH HAH !!!! We put a purse around his arm !! My mom, mom-mom, sister and pop-pop all laughed till they almost fell. Now all we had to do was carve pumpkins. I carved a cat into mine which was kind of hard, but I did it. Here was the worst part taking them home. While we were making the scarecrows my pop-pop went and got my mom’s car. We took their car to get here. We didn’t have enough room to fit the scarecrows the pumpkins and us all in the car. So we got the other car to put everything in it plus one person. It worked REALLY well with two cars.

As soon as we got home we were exhausted. I took ANOTHER nap and so did everybody else. My mom and my mom-mom started packing everything up, but me and my sister didn’t want to leave. But we knew it had to happen. Finally it was time. We started to get in the car, and our mom said that we had a surprise. Me and my sister chanted. “TELL US , TELL US, TELL US !!!” Finally she did…. we got a bag of candy for the ride home !! YAY ! We said our goodbyes and gave hugs. When finally it was time to go. We started backing out and drove away… :[. We honked the horn about 3 times. I was soo sad ! But I had a great time.

  1. That was an AWESOME story, Abby! No offence, but it sounded a little weird in my head because of all the yelling. Other than that it is AWESOME! Please write more stories like that. Will they involve mom-mom and pop-pop?
