Hello! I am Kayla (Gursky) Heiser. This is my sixth year as a teacher. I previously taught for two years at the Lincoln Intermediate Unit 12 in York as an Early Intervention Preschool teacher. I was fortunate to then be hired by ELANCO as a special education teacher at Blue Ball Elementary and am now in my 4th year here at Blue Ball in the MDS program. I absolutely love working in our MDS program! I am so thankful to have so many dedicated, passionate coworkers and administrators in our district.

I grew up in Mahanoy City, PA which is in Schuylkill County. I have a wonderful mom, dad, and younger brother. After graduating high school I attended York College of PA majoring in Elementary and Special Education. After living in York, my boyfriend at the time Greg and I moved to Akron in the fall of 2012. On Friday, November 14th Greg asked me to marry him in front of all of our family and friends at his band’s show.

We were married on May 14, 2016. We had such a beautiful celebration surrounded with our family and friends! I am now currently back in school at Alvernia University working on my Master’s Degree in Special Education. I am hoping to be finished with my degree in the fall of 2017.

I am hoping that this blog will keep you up-to-date on our classroom lessons, activities, and themes throughout the year! I will also post resources that I think may be valuable and helpful.
