This week

It seems like we have some germs spreading around our class this week! Unfortunately a lot of our kiddos  have been out sick at some point this week. We really do our best to keep our classroom and the materials clean, however, sometimes getting sick is just inevitable! I ask you to please remember to contact me if you are keeping your child home from school. This allows us to be prepared for the day and also to know which buses we need to keep waiting for in the morning. Also, please remember to send an absence note in with your child when he or she returns to school.

Our Unique Learning story for this week was called “What Can Ava Do on a Rainy Day?”. We listened to the story multiple times and answered the comprehension questions after the story. We also talked about rainy days and what we do on those types of days. The kids also got to feel “rain” by being misted with a water bottle. (Only a little bit! 🙂 ) We have also been learning about Thanksgiving this week. We got to activate an online stories using our wireless switch. The kids LOVE doing that! They are fascinated watching the computer screen change when they hit the button on the switch. We also listened to some Thanksgiving/Turkey songs and watched some videos! We made some crafts this week as well to tie in with our lessons.

Enjoy the rest of the week and have a wonderful weekend!

Hello!

Welcome to my first blog post! I am hoping to update the blog weekly with our classroom lessons, activities, resources, etc. I am eager to share with you what we are doing in our room! We have had a very busy first quarter of the school year. It’s hard to believe it is almost Thanksgiving already! Time sure does fly when you are having fun! We have been very busy learning and growing these first few months of the school year.

As you know, we use the Unique Learning Systems curriculum in our classroom. This curriculum provides a monthly theme filled with lessons and activities. Our themes so far this year have been Life in Early America and Weather. The students have been enjoying listening to the stories, reading the stories through activating switches, and answering comprehension questions. Of course we have been supplementing the lessons with videos, songs, and crafts! I believe in bringing in as many resources and activities as possible into each monthly theme. The more senses and modalities we can engage in our units, the better! I am hoping to post our themes on the blog as well as some of the activities we are doing to go along with the unit. Please feel free to share feedback and ideas!

We have really been enjoying the beautiful fall weather by going outside on the playground for recess. Hopefully winter will stay away a little while longer so we can continue to go outside each day!

Thanks for reading the first blog post! Please consider subscribing to our class blog so that you can receive notification each time it is updated with something new and exciting!
