GSHS Students Excel at Young Artist Competition

Congratulations to six Garden Spot High School students who won awards in the 2014 Scholastic Art Awards Competition including four Gold Keys. 

  • Senior Zelia Witwer won two Gold Keys in drawing.
  • Senior Cheyenne Dragon won two Gold Keys and two Honorable Mentions in photography.
  • Senior Brittany Eberly won a Silver Key and five Honorable Mentions in photography.
  • Senior Hailey Klinger won a Silver Key in photography.
  • Senior Ashton Martin won Honorable Mention in photography.
  • Senior Joel Hoover won Honorable Mention in digital animation.
  • Both Zelia’s and Cheyenne’s artwork were forwarded to the National Scholastic Awards competition.

 

In the Lancaster County Young Artist Competition, eleven Garden Spot High School students won awards in the photography division including two Gold Medals.

  • Senior Jordan Arment won a Gold Medal in computer art.
  • Senior Brittany Eberly won a Gold Medal, a Silver Medal and six Honorable Mentions in photography.
  • Senior Cheyenne Dragon won three Silver Medals and an Honorable Mention in photography.
  • Foreign Exchange student Renee Doedens won a Silver Medal in computer art and an Honorable Mention in photography.
  • Senior Haley Klinger won a Silver Medal in photography.
  • Senior Brittany Esh won an Honorable Mention in computer art.
  • Senior Nate Fricke won an Honorable Mention in both computer art and photography.
  • Junior Alexandra Martin won an Honorable Mention in photography.
  • Senior Ashton Martin won an Honorable Mention in photography.
  • Senior Maria Newswanger won an Honorable Mention in both computer art and photography.
  • Sophomore Heidi Shade won an Honorable Mention in both computer art and photography.

Zelia Witwer and Joel Hoover are students in Mrs. Toni Myers’ and Mrs. Sandy Coopers’ Honors Art classes.  All others are students in Mr. Todd Reitnouer’s Digital Photography class.

All these students artwork are on display until March 30 at the Lancaster Museum of Art and the Demuth Museum.
