My Family #SBC

By: Leila E.

I have 4 people in my family. My dad Trevor he likes sports like soccer and baseball. He likes the Phillies the best. My mom Jessica likes going different places. One of her favorite places to go is Florida. My little brother Landon who is 8 likes baseball and a lot of other sports related things. My little sister Adeline who is turning 6 on Wednsday the 12th she likes to play with her doll and she also likes to play with shopkins. I also have my nana and papa and grammy and pop-pop. Those are my grandparents and I have 1 great grandma. Then for aunts and uncles I have an aunt Beckey and a uncle Brandon. Beckey is my mom’s sister. Then I have my aunt Carrie and my uncle Mike and my aunt Jen and uncle Doug and Mike and Doug are my dad’s brothers. I have 11 cousins. 8 from my dads side they are Greta, Blake, Will, Haden, Conor, Braden, Chase and Hudsin. 3 from my moms side Weston, Lydia, Violet. Sometimes we go to the cabin with all of are family. Just my family goes to Florida every year. On holidays we always get together at someones house. Once we were up at the cabin with my dad’s side of the family and my uncle doug took everyone on a hike and we lost the path and so he took us down on side of a hill and since it was fall there was leaves on the ground and that made it slippery. Luckely everyone made it down safely. It was a lot of fun. When we up to the cabin with my moms side of the family we always ride fourwheeler. The last time we did we got to a lot of deer. My papa always takes us up to the shack. It’s a place where he hunts with his friends. It’s funny to watch him hunt because he calls the deer like this here lamalamalama. Those are some things about my family. The End

  1. Hello again Leila,

I hope you had a good week. I hope you had a great ‘blogging’ week. Just to check are you prepared for the commenting game that will be coming up as part of the Student Challenge in a couple of weeks?
    1. Have you at least 5 other student blogs linked on the sidebar of your blog; blogs from other students around the world, not just those in your class or school. I see you have done this.
    2. Do you have a blogroll or link category called Global students or Global classes. I put a link about how to do this in my previous message. Great I see you have done this too.

So Ms. Wyatt’s essentials in a great post are below. I have added whether I think you have achieved this in your most recent post:
    1. A catchy title using alliteration perhaps, like My Fabulous Family or My Family are Fun.
    2. At least one visual (with attribution) whether photo, cartoon, video or another web 2.0 tool like padlet or glogster. Yes your posts could do with some pictures.
    3. An interesting topic with your passion for the subject coming through. I can tell you love your family.
    4. A post that is well written and not copy/pasted from somewhere else. Yes yours is original.
    5. A post has been proofread and spellchecked. Quite good. Just be careful. It is ‘Becky’ and ‘Wednesday’.
    6. One that is written in paragraphs – at least three of them. This would be good and would make your work clearer and easier to read.
    7. One that includes links to other websites on similar topics – at least two of these. Many students are not doing this. There is a good trick to get people to read more of your blog and to stay longer. You could say, and if you enjoyed this post by me, why not read … and leave a link to another post.

Ms.Wyatt says that if your post covers the seven things mentioned above e.g. has a catchy title, includes at least one visual etc. etc., it will be added to the flipboard magazine.

Could you make any changes so that it would score 7 out of 7?

When you have done that, Ms. Wyatt suggests you go to the blogging challenge and leave a comment on this post.
Here is the link to the post she is talking about: http://studentchallenge.edublogs.org/2017/04/23/week-6-what-to-write-about/

Just to remind you she asks that you ‘mention what topic you wrote about and leave a link to your post’….not a link to your blog but to the post.

I would also make clear that this post is not ‘other homework’ but a response to the Student Blogging Challenge by adding the hashtag
#stubc17 Week 6 to the title.

Hope you find this helpful. With every good wish
    Merry Beau
