  • Please review the following high frequency words with your child at home: I, am, the, little, a, to, have, is, like, we, my, he, for. We will also be learning me, with, she this week.
  • Please have your child practice reading and writing the high frequency words that we’ve learned so far.
  • This week we will be concentrating on identifying and writing the letters N and B. We will discuss the sound of these letters as well as words that begin and end with the sound of those letters.
  • In math we will be finishing our unit on positional language, 2D shapes (circle, square, rectangle, triangle, hexagon), and 3D shapes (sphere, cube, cone, cylinder). In December we will begin a new math unit.  In this unit we will be learning how to read, write, and build sets of teen numbers.  We will also be talking about groups of tens and ones in numbers as well as counting to 100 by ones and by tens.
  • In writing we are working on coming up with a topic for a sentence and then counting out how many words are in our sentence. Students are then producing “kidwriting” (writing the sounds that they hear in the words) to write each word of their sentence on the lines.  Students are being encouraged to stretch out the words in order to hear as many sounds as possible within each word.
