Back to Room 105

I am very excited to tell you that our class has moved back to Room 105.  Our original classroom that is now new and improved.  The children are excited about their new desks and many new spaces.  I am looking forward to seeing each of you on December 6th for our Family Read and a peek at our new class.

Back to School 2013

Brecknock Elementary has been a busy place with all of the construction going on, new furniture being delivered, and teachers getting ready in our classrooms.  We are all excited to get started again and for the opportunity to work with your children.

At this time we do not have a sink in our classroom so please send a water bottle (with a pop-top lid) with your child to school.  They will be sent home each night to be refilled.

Enjoy these last few days of summer!

P.S.  There is new playground equipment which I know the children will be excited to use.

Impromptu Class Play

The children loved making masks and learning lines to put on an impromptu class play based on our anthology story Where Are All My Animal Friends?  The children made their masks all by themselves and were very proud of them.  We even invited Miss Martin’s first grade class to view a second run of the play.  Great fun was had by all!!!

Thanksgiving Fun!

Our Thanksgiving celebration was a lot of fun.  The children enjoyed making vests, headbands, and tablecloths.  Our contribution was dessert.  We had a great time making pies with the help of our wonderful volunteers a few days ahead of time.  The children all enjoyed the turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing balls, corn muffins, and pumpkin or apple pie.  They did a great job sharing what they are thankful for.  Many of them mentioned how they were thankful for their families.  Please click below to enjoy some pictures.

Working together in First Grade

It has been wonderful to work with and get to know your children.  I’ve enjoyed hearing about their summer adventures and learning about their interests.  We’ve been busy reviewing letters and sounds, reading stories together, and learning new math games.

Welcome Back

I’ve been in our classroom busily getting ready for our first day of school.  I’m excited to see you again and look forward to hearing about your summer and beginning our school year together.  Don’t forget to bring in something special to share with our class to help us get to know you better.  You will have a chance to share one day during the first week of school.

Have a great weekend!
