Christian Leeland – Robotics & Automation Internship

My name is Christian Leeland, I am a senior at Garden Spot High School. This semester I am interning at Precision Cobotics at Millersville University. To give some background about Precision Cobotics they are a company that provides automation solutions to manufacturing. I have been curious about the engineering field and decided to explore what automation engineering was all about. I support others who are working on automation engineering projects.

This internship has provided me with real-world experience in the automation engineering world. I worked hands-on with programming a robot to complete calculated tasks. Creating 3D models of parts and grippers on Fusion 360 was another valuable part of my intern experience. Some of my duties include researching parts and products as well as contributing to strategies and solutions. I have also furthered my knowledge and capability with Fusion 360 with this experience.

Through working hands-on I have been able to gain a better understanding of this piece of the industry. Collaborating in a small group setting with my peers and professionals in the automation engineering industry I am building valuable connections. These are skills and traits that I would have not otherwise experienced if it had not been for this internship with Precision Cobotics. I have had to aid in getting projects done within a specific time frame and prioritize to meet deadlines. I’m grateful for this internship because it has allowed me to explore this career path in an industry that I am curious about.

Overall I have really enjoyed my unique opportunity through Precision Cobotics with real-world experience. This internship has opened my eyes to the world of automation and engineering in general. Without this internship, I wouldn’t have been able to decipher what career and direction I would like to pursue. I have gained valuable experience that I can see helping me out in the future. Precision Robotics and Millersville University have been great to gain knowledge from since they are so hands-on and eager to see others thrive in the world of engineering.
