The Adventures of Frank Bender: The Pencil War, Chapter 3: The Gas Station

The trip to the gas station was absolutely great!  Frank helped Shirley make the paper car.  All of the cars that Frank has ever saw didn’t run on gas, they ran on air.  The mad mastermind who created this madness was believed to be a tree that was tired of pollution, so he created an eco-friendly car that ran on air.  Soon after he was discovered, everyone begged him to teach them how.  Luckily, a few people knew how to make them before the tree died of stress.  It was unbelievable.  But as long as there were trees, there was air, and as long as there was air, there was a working car, as long as there was a working car, there were happy “people,” and as long as there were happy people, everything ran smoothly. It was a long way to get to the gas station.  First, they had to travel down a long ruler named Yuler.  He’d always let them ride down.  Then, after the long, fast ride down, they landed on a table named Timmy.  He said it tickled whenever they would ride across.  Next, when the table came to an end, they came across another ruler named Nuler.  That time, they had to ride up the ruler.  It was hard work, but they finally made it.  From there, that took them to a tall desk with papers and stuff all over it.  Frank and Shirley searched and searched for the gas station.  Then, they finally found it next to a coffee cup named Connie.  The weird thing about the gas station was that it was in a different place every time they came. So then Frank and Shirley got out of the car.  The car was no good now, so they fed it to Pepsi The Paper Shredder.

Just then, something caught Frank’s eye.  It said:  PET STORE, in big, bold letters.

“Look Shirley!” he said, “It’s a pet store!  Can we go in and see the pets?”

Not today, Frank.  Now tell me, how does the gas station work?,” said Shirley. Then Frank started talking, “Well, every 2 weeks the workers brought over a squid from the fish tank over by the cabinets.  Then they’d squeeze the ink out of its tentacles and into Iggy The Ink Pad. (AKA, The Gas Station)  Next, you attach a paper pump from the ink to the tip of your tip where you draw.  Then Iggy pumps the ink.  And you feel all nice and new!” “Oh.  I get now Frank,” Shirley thought out loud. “Can you help me attach the paper tube to my tip?” “Sure.” So then Shirley helped Frank get more ink.  Then they had to find another piece of paper to fold and crease into a car.  Luckily, there was a pad of paper right next to them.  They ripped out a piece and folded.  They then climbed in and began their journey home.  They went down Nuler, across Timmy, and up Yuler.  They then finally reached home.  But right before they were about to get out, Shirley stopped. “Frank, Shirley started, “Can I ask you a question?” “Why, sure!,” Frank knew that the moment was about to come.  The moment where Shirley would ask Frank to be her boyfriend.  He could just feel it. “Well, I’ve been thinking.  And well, you seem very nice Frank.  So, not to jump right in, but will you be my boyfriend?” “I KNEW IT!,” yelled Frank, “YES!” “What?” “Oh, I mean yeah, sure, fine,” Frank said, all maturely. “Okay then,” said Shirley, “I best get going now.” Frank was so happy as he walked into the door of his family’s small apartment.  It must have been showing so much that it made his parents asked.

“Honey, why do you have your happy face on?  Aren’t you always grumpy when you come home from the gas station?,” asked Mummy out of curiosity. “MUMMY!,” screamed Frank, “SHIRLEY ASKED ME TO BE HER BOYFRIEND!” “And what did you say?,” asked Papa in his uh-oh voice. “I said yes of course!,” said Frank still very excited. “Well that’s great honey!,” Mummy and Daddy repeated again and again in harmony.  It sort of got annoying to Frank, but it was worth it.

The Adventures of Frank Bender : The Pencil War, Chapter 4: The War

Later that day, Pinky Pink Butt heard a knock on the door.  She stumbled over to answer it.  She froze as Prudy Pencil (their neighbor) was standing right in front of her.  “Is Frank home?,” he asked. Pinky Pink Butt ran away screaming for Frank who was taking a nap in his little corner.  Frank instantly shot up out of his piles of blankets toppling over him.  It looked like a bomb had just exploded as the blankets flew in the air.  Frank ran to the door and was about to scream, but instead just said, “Uh-oh.  Prudy, I thought I said that I was sorry for pushing your grandma down the stairs!” “Oh, you did Frank.  But now there is something else on my mind.” “What?,” Frank said, half regretting it. “Our new neighbor.” “Shirley?” “No, the garbage can.” “Really?” “FRANK!  You ruined my cool moment!  You could have just said something like, it’s on, or something.  And yes Shirley!” “Fine, it’s on.  But this is exactly why you were never my friend.” “You just a mistake, my friend.  A really big one.  Gather up your team of 16 members.  Meet me 9:00 a.m. sharp by the recycling bin. Let me tell you now, it’s going to hurt!

“Nice spot.  I’ll have to be there at 8:00 a.m. to guard!” Frank needed to assemble a team.  So he went around asking family members and friends.  Almost all said yes, except for Granny and Grampy.  The way Prudy got people on his team is that he would find someone and scare  them until they agreed to be on his team. Later that day, Frank decided to take a stroll around the classroom.  Once again he saw the Pet Store.  Since no one else was with him, he went inside to look for his 16th team member.  As soon as he stepped into that place, he laid his eyes on a mini, green, monster pen.  “I’ll take this one!,” Frank said excitedly to the clerk. “Good choice!  What’s its name going to be?” “Hmmm…  Misfit Monster.” “Okay.  Go over and meet me by the counter while I get him out.” So then Frank met the clerk by the counter.  He brought Misfit Monster over and set him on a scale.  “6 pounds and 3 ounces,” said the clerk, “So that’s $6 and 3 cents.   Frank also bought a leash for Misfit Monster so that he could walk him home.  When Frank got home everyone was surprised.  But Pinky Pink Butt was as happy and jumpy as a frog that just in the desert for 6 months and finally got a giant bucket of water dumped on its face.  She ran right over and patted Misfit Monster on the head. Frank was ready for war.  He called everyone over for a meeting at midnight to discuss the battle plan.  This was going to be the best war in history.

Weird Wire Possesions

One day, while riding on the bus, my friend Summer looked out the window and said:

“Why are there boots on that wire?”.  I looked, and, sure enough, there was a pair of boots hanging by their strings.

“I don’t know.” I said in bafflement.

“Then it’s a mystery.” she said.  And from that day on, we looked at the boots every time we passed.

Mae+Summer Express At Blue Ball Elementary

Today we’ll be talking about an event at Blue Ball Elementary school called Walk Run Jog (WRJ).  It is a field where we walk, run, jog, skip, etc, on a field at the school playground.  Read on to find out more!

We go around the field to earn tickets.

We have to go around the cones on the field.  There is always a lady standing at the end of the lap with a bag full of tickets.  She is very nice.  Every morning we can get our tickets signed by the teacher.  We have charts.  You give your teacher a ticket and your chart and she\he will sign one spot and take the ticket. Each grade has a WRJ prize day.  You can go to the prize day if you have twelve or more tickets signed onto your chart.  Prize day is usually held in the gym.  There are tons of pens, pencils,  sticky eyeballs, small stuffed animals,  bouncy balls, and other small items.  If you just bring in tickets, then you can’t get prizes.  They have to be signed onto your paper so that everyone knows that you didn’t just steal them. Now it’s time to talk about our field.  The field that we exercise around has shrunk this year.  It has shrunk because workers used some of it to create more parking-lot for the teachers and helpers.  If you complete 4 laps around the field, you would have exercised for about a mile.  The school has someone to come and cut the grass every now and then.  When he/she is done cutting the grass, there are usually big grass clumps on the ground, so it wouldn’t be the time to play on it. We can do WRJ at 3 times during the school day.  We can do WRJ in the morning (if it’s not rainy and wet) after we visit our classrooms and put our stuff down.  We can also do WRJ during our lunch recess.  Lunch recess is 10 minutes long, so you could probably fit one or two laps in before we line up to go in for lunch.  Lastly, we can do WRJ at our bigger recess that we call Break.  Break is 20 minutes long, which means that if you stay focused, you could probably do around 4-6 laps before we go back inside. That about ends our talk about Walk Run Jog.  I hoped that you learned something!

The Adventures of Frank Bender: The Pencil War, Chapter 2: New Neighbors

The next morning Frank was very excited.  He was going to meet his new neighbors!  He quickly got out of bed without thinking.  “Oh no,” said Frank, “Not again, this is going to be a another terrible and embarrassing day in the old paper wagon.  And sure it was, this time was worse than all the others.  His back hurt so much that he could barely get into the wagon!  The only good thing about being in that wagon was that he could practice his artwork all day, but eventually he would run out of room.  That was usually in just a few minutes.  Frank didn’t feel like drawing today though, he wanted to show the new resident that he could walk.  But he couldn’t show the new neighbors today, not a chance. Frank was very lucky today though, by the time the were ready to meet the new neighbors, Frank felt way better.  That was the only time he had spend under 3 hours in the wagon!  Maybe his back was getting better!  Probably not, but he still had a chance.  Frank told his parents how he felt.  At first, they didn’t believe him, but then, they reconsidered because Frank was begging more than he had ever begged in his life. After a couple of minutes of walking around, he was ready to go to the new neighbors apartment.  So, he walked with his family and the cupcakes to the new neighbors’ house.  When they knocked on the door, no response.  The second time they knocked they heard a small, girlish voice answer, “Hold your horses!  I’m coming!”  Frank liked that voice.  He liked how it ringed in his ears over and over again.  Then when the figure opened the door Frank started drooling.  “Hi!  I’m Shirley Sticky-notes.  Are you my neighbors?”       “Yes, yes we are,” answered Papa, then elbowed Frank in the shoulder. Frank finally realized what he was doing.  He slurped in his spit and just stared.  He couldn’t stop.  Papa elbowed Frank again, but this time, way harder.  Frank almost fell over.  This time, he spoke.  “Ummm… uh, Sh-Shirley, um…, these are for you,” and he handed her the awesome-looking cupcakes. “Thanks!,” Shirley said, “Is your name Frank?” Frank fainted. This time, it was Mummy’s turn to speak, “Yes, that is Frank.  But he is a little shy now.  Then Mummy grabbed Frank’s cap and dragged him back to their apartment.  He didn’t like that.  “Mummy… I think I might like Shirley a little more than I’m supposed to,” said Frank, lost in thoughts. “No honey, you drool all over her nice carpet and then stare at her like she’s a princess that lives in a cloud castle in a dream!  No you really DON’T like her at all!,” yelled Mummy. “I see what you mean, can I go back over?” “If you don’t drool or do that weird stare!” “Okay, I will!  Wait I will!  What?  Never mind,” was Frank’s final answer.

“He’s going to blow this out of the ceiling,” Mummy said, worried.                                   “Hey, I’m still RIGHT HERE!”

“Oh.  Sorry Frank.” Frank was shaking while he tip-toed over to Shirley’s apartment.  Once he got there Shirley was introducing the rest of her family.  There was her (Shirley),  Shelly (her little sister), her Mother, and her Father.  Then Frank realized something, they had something in common!  Little sisters!  That had to be the happiest thought that ever came up to his inky brain. Just then Mr and Mrs. Stickynotes came to the doorway right when Frank did.  “Uh-oh,” Frank accidentally said out loud. “Uh-oh what?,” asked Shirley’s Father. Frank replied, “Ummm, i-it’s nothing.” Frank was so embarrassed.  That emotion was so strong that all of his ink squirted out of his bottom.   “AAAHHH!,” screamed Mrs. Stickynotes. “AAAHHH!,” screamed Papa, “This never happened before.  Frank, can you still draw?” Frank flipped his cap off and tried to draw on the floor.  “No..,” Frank started to cry, “I’ll never become an artist now!” “Here, Frank, let me take you to the gas station,” offered Shirley.

The Adventures of Frank Bender: The Pencil War, Chapter 1: Frank Bender’s Story

Frank Bender is a bent pen beloved by all.  He has a small family of 4 members.  There are: his little sister Pinky Pink Butt, a cap eraser, his mother Mummy Sharpie Bender, his dad Papa Bender, and him, Frank Bender.  Their family was made out of capped pens, an eraser cap, and a capped sharpie.  Mummy Sharpie is a black sharpie.  Frank and Papa are blue-inked pens.  And Pinky Pink Butt is a pink cap eraser.  Pinky Pink Butt was also adopted.  She originally came from a family of pencils that made very few mistakes.  It turned out that they didn’t need her, so they set her out for adoption.  Pencils may be pens’ biggest enemies, but as soon as they focused their eyes on her, they knew she was the one they wanted.

Frank was the only bent pen in the family. He liked that, but at the same time he didn’t. One morning he woke up with an ach in his back. He couldn’t get out of bed. He had to yell for his parents. Then his parents had to come upstairs with a paper wagon they made themselves to carry Frank in all day around town while they did errands. The only benefit about that was that Frank could draw pictures all day.  He loved drawing pictures.  That’s why he is an artists.  He also has a part-time job his parents gave him, guarding the recycling bin so that no pens would fall in.  He didn’t care if any pencils got thrown in, he only cared about pens. Frank is 19 years old.  He is turning 20 on October 4th 2017.  He loves his birthday.  Every year, the Ballpoint family (Frank’s aunt, uncle, and cousin) would bring over their famous Kentucky Style Chicken Noodle Soup.  That was Frank’s favorite meal.  Pinky Pink Butt was 4 years old.  She will be turning 5 on July 26th 2017. Mummy is 40 years old.  She will be turning 41 on January 1st 2017.  Papa is 43 years old.  He will be turning 44 on May 15th 2017. Just as you were thinking, yes, Frank is pretty old to still live with his parents.  But where else would he live?  His jobs didn’t pay a lot- no one buys his artwork, and and his parents only pay him $5 a week to guard the recycling bin.  So far, Frank has earned $0 guarding the recycling bin.  To buy a nice house, (Frank figured this out on a piece of paper), it would take him about 30,000 weeks.  He had asked for something higher, but since he has been working for under a week, they don’t really know what he can do yet.  Frank likes both of his jobs.  But if he had to pick one to do for the rest of his life, he would pick to be an artist.  Maybe no one likes his artwork now, but someday, Frank knows that he will be the best artist to ever live! Speaking of living, Frank and his family live on 321 Write-A-Story Ave Inkville PA 10210.  They live in a small “apartment” building (the “apartment” building is actually a few small holes in a classroom wall) with 5 apartments in all.  Since there are 5 apartments, their neighbors are the Ballpoint family, the Staple family, Dr. Gluegun (who lives alone), and the most cruel family in town, the Pencil family.  The other apartment on the floor was going up for sale.  The couple who lived there before, Mr. Mistakes and Mrs. Mistakes, have retired and needed a smaller space.  They moved to a 60 square foot house along Eraser Street.  Luckily, some new residents are moving in soon to that very apartment.  They are moving in tomorrow  and every one’s very excited.  It is a tradition for Frank’s family that whenever they get a new neighbor, they welcome them with a special meal.  This time they are making maple cinnamon cupcakes with triple chocolate frosting.  The cupcakes had maple filling and cinnamon cake.  Those might be the best thing they are ever going to make for new residents.  So, they are making 1 batch of 12 for their new neighbors, and 2 batches of 30 each for themselves.

CHAPTER ONE – MY EGG!!!!

Once upon a time, through a tunnel in the sun there was a gigantic world.  I lived in a large, white house on 1261 Niam Teerts.  Every day when I went out to get the mail there are about 20 letters and 10 packages for my 2nd grade pop star little sister, Eisle.  Every day there are about 10 letters and 5 packages for my adorable and romantic little little sister, Einna. She says she’s pathetic because I told her it meant romantic.   My parents are both awesome college professors and they get about 30 letters and 20 packages. Every day for me, though, I find about 7 letters and 4 packages.

The good thing is that the rest of my family loses stuff almost as often as they get it because they always get small garments.  Before my sisters became famous, they always annoyed me, but now they spend almost all their time writing thank you letters.  I always get larger things, so my room is quite full.  Even with the wheelbarrow I bring it sometimes takes multiple trips to get everything inside.  And every week my sisters have to give away 20 items but I only need to give one per week.  All my things come from my best friend’s art gallery, things that she made.  At recess one day I asked her to send a multiple of something each week.  She agreed, and every week since, I gave away the worse multiple.  One week, she sent a gigantic blob of goo. I LOVED IT.  But the bad part is that whenever I get the  mail I have to get my parent’s first, then Eisle’s, then Einna’s, and then mine.

One day, when I went outside to get my mail (finally) there was a package that wasn’t from Mikayla (my BFF). It had a note on the front, which I quickly read.  It said:

|    Dear Mae,

Please be extremely careful with this package, for inside there is a precious egg that I found

while exploring craters outside of the grand crater. Here are the instructions that you need to                    hatch it.

  • Put it in a tub of warm water.
  • Hide the tub in a dark place.
  • Every day for forty days scrub it with the moon soap that I sent you.
  • Every 2 days change water.
  • On fortieth day take egg out of the water and say these words while standing on one foot: Besee Pesee lesee gesee.
  • When the egg hatches feed the thing bugs.
  • Give it a comfy cozy little cradle

Thank you for saving me the money of a meteor bus.

Sincerely, Summer.

Summer used to be (and still is) one of my best friends. Last year, she moved to the moon.

I was awestruck. This was so cool!  She had sent me an egg!  I took all my mail inside except the egg, opened and read everything in my usual routine, and went outside.  Then I snuck around the house to get the egg.  Much to my dismay, I saw an peregrine falcon flying away with it.

The first time I used Virtual Reality glasses

On September 23, 2016, I looked through Virtual Reality glasses for the first time. I had two choices: either a video about Italy or a video about real sharks. Naturally, I chose sharks, as I’ve never had much interest in countries and I’ve always loved animals very much. I was slightly disappointed when I saw, instead of sharks all around, German Shepherds in shark costumes in a room with a sign that said: DANGER. SHARKS. At first, I was confused. Where were the sharks? The dogs were walking around, sniffing things, sleeping, eating, barking, and playing. It was pretty funny. That was what I saw when I used virtual reality glasses for the first time.
