Mouse Trouble

It is a cool day in Mrs. Scroozy mouse’s preschool room. Emma and Cornilia are two mouse sisters. Chase isn’t being nice, or following the rules, as usual.

“Alright class!” said Mrs. Scroozy.  “Raise your hand if you can tell me what the L says.  You can’t go to lunch if you can’t tell me.”

Three hands shot up. “Chase!” she shouted.

“L-L-L-L!” he responded.

“Awesome!  Now Emma, what is two plus two?” she asked.

Emma smiled as she responded, “Four!”

“Great!” she said.  “Cornilia, how do you spell bat? asked Mrs. Scroozy.

“B-A-T,” she responded.

“Correct, time for lunch!” yelled Mrs.Scroozy.

At lunch Chase sat next to Emma.  Emma had cheese for dessert! Boy, was Chase jealous. He took that cheese right out of her hands. “Mine!”” he yelled.

“Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!”cried Emma.

“Crybaby, crybaby, Emma is a crybaby.”

“Cha-ase!” said Cornilia. “Be nice!”

“No!” he shouted.

“That’s it!” said Cornilia. “I’m telling!”

The next day Emma had recovered – until recess. At recess, Cornilia was peacefully sitting at the slide and pretending to read, when Chase snuck up behind her, and he ripped the sash of off her pretty pink dress. “Aeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!”she screamed.

“What’s wrong?” asked Mrs. Scroozy, running over.

“Chase ripped the sash off my dress!” exclaimed Cornilia.

“Oh my, Chase,” Mrs. Scroozy said. “You lost tomorrow’s recess.”

“Aw man,” he said.

“Whoo hoo!” exclaimed Cornilia.

Emma was mad for her sister, but happy that Chase was caught.

Right before school ended, Mrs. Scroozy knelt down beside Chase and said, “Make better decisions.”

“Burp!” burped Chase.

“Chase,” she said sternly.  “You’re going to have extra nap time on Cheese Day, but if you nap extra well on Cheese Day I’ll be saving a piece of cheese in the fridge for you.”

The next day was Cheese Day.  During this special day the children spent their time playing “Put the Hat on the Cheese” and eating out of a wheelbarrow full of cheese.  Chase napped very, very well.  At the end of the day, there was still some cheese left in the wheelbarrow. Mrs. Scroozy placed a few pieces in the fridge, and Chase got to take it home. Chase had learned his lesson. Everyone was happy, for a while.

A few weeks after Cheese  Day, Mrs. Scroozy’s room got a new student. His name was Aden. On his first day, he was mean (just like Chase had been). Most new students were shy, but not Aden. He was so mean that only Chase was brave enough to go near or talk to him (just because they were both boys).

Aden tore his work in half. Aden stole five pencils, and told his mother they were just presents from school. He teased Mrs. Scroozy. He ate his homework (because he was a mean mouse), and nibbled the slide.

Chase saw everything and immediately decided to help the little fellow at once, with his knowledge of the past. He informed him about Cheese Day, and what had happened to him during  Cheese Day. He even promised to give him a pile of swiss cheese if he behaved better.

Chase’s plan worked! Aden behaved well for a week. At the end of the week, Chase gave Aden what he deserved, and he also had earned three friends! Mrs. Scroozy rewarded Chase with cheese, and he shared it with his friends.

The Moral:  Follow the Rules
