Our class group read an article about 2 authors that had different opinions about recycling. The first author did not exactly like the idea of recycling. The second author liked  the idea of recycling. Here are both or their statements.

First, the 1st author was talking about how he thinks people should recycle less. He said in the article, “It costs less to make new glass than to recycle old glass.” He also said, “It costs less to make new plastic than to recycle old plastic.” He also said recycling wastes water, (hot) because when people recycle, they usually wash their items in hot water. So, he wants us to basically make our own things, not recycle

Next, the 2nd author thinks it is a good idea to recycle, but he thinks we can do better. He said we should be careful to avoid waste, and to throw away less trash. Also, he said the 1st authors opinion is not enough to make us stop recycling.

Lastly, my opinion is SERIOUSLY?! Why would we not want to recycle?! Oh yeah sure it costs less money to make new glass and plastic, but isn’t it the same thing? You’re still using oil to make plastic, still a long process to make glass, WHY? And, only BIG companies can do this kind of stuff! Why would somebody, (instead of recycling), want to make their own glass, plastic, or WHATEVER?! Just Keep recycling, just be wise of what you recycle!
