What we will be working on this week:

  • Please review the following high frequency words with your child at home: I, am, the, little, a, to, have, is, like, we, my, he, for, with, she, me, see, look, they, you, of, are, that do, one, two, three, four, five. We will also be learning: here, go, from.
  • Please have your child practice reading and writing the high frequency words that we’ve learned so far.
  • This week we will be concentrating on the letter Ee. We will be discussing words that contain vowel Ee.
  • In math we will be starting a new math unit. This unit connects with a unit where we learned 2D and 3D shapes.  For this unit, we will learn how to compare these shapes by attributes, sort these shapes, make models of these shapes, and learn how we can put these shapes together to form new shapes.
  • In writing we are working on coming up with a topic for a sentence and then counting out how many words are in our sentence. Students are then producing “kidwriting” (writing the sounds that they hear in the words) to write each word of their sentence on the lines.  Students are being encouraged to stretch out the words in order to hear as many sounds as possible within each word.  Students are now being required to write two sentences that relate to each other.
