Free write 2/26/16
Hi! My name is Fred. I am a great white shark. Many fish are scared of me, and I don’t understand why because I only have a whole lot of sharp pointy teeth that’s all. Oh and maybe because I may have eaten one too many of their friends or family. I mean just one too many, that’s nothing to get upset over. Now if I ate every fish except for one or two, then that is something to get upset over. One day I swam up to them and just said, “Hi guys!” and they all scattered everywhere and they hide from me. I then right there and then I smelled the sweet smell of blood. I swam around like a crazy shark, even though I am a crazy shark, I found a fish and ate it! Oh and that is another reason why the could be scared of me. I then the next day asked my best friend Bob, the lemon shark, if he could convince the other fish to be my friend because I am soooooo lonely!

I think Maniac Magee is a adventurous. Because he run on the railroad tracks. He gets beat up by other kids and does not care. But the thing that is scary to me is that he sleep with cockroaches and rats in the dump, kind of weird is it not or am I wrong. He is the most adventurous. He is also really funny because….. He hit a frog the new bunt the frog bunt from Maniac Magee. But he Is a very nice person because he tries to put the book back together because Mars Bar took it from him and ripped the pageout. But Amanda did not care because he beat Mars Bar up and the high school kids were laughing because Mars Bar got beat up by a girl i don’t think it is funny because i got beat up by girls all ready and it is not fun. which sucks and everyone is watching. Wish that did not happen.HAHAHA.
I think Maniac Magee is brave and outgoing. Maniac Magee is also pretty fast and he must be fit in order to run that much. If Maniac Magee was my friend I would want him to help teach me how to play baseball, because he is awesome at it. I think that Amanda laughed so hard when Jeffrey (Maniac) asked her if she was running away because she probably never heard of someone that is running away before. Another reason that she was laughing so hard is that she did not know Jeffrey and it was kind of weird of him to ask a stranger. I mean I would have laught too. I think that Jeffrey was puzzled by Amanda’s reaction because he really thought she was running away, I know that because he was not laughing himself and he did not say he was joking. I also think that Jeffrey was surprised by Amanda’s reaction because she had a suitcase and everything, including books, so maybe that’s why he thought that she was running away, or he could have thought that she just loved books and she did not want to run away without them.
We both thought that he was cool and awesome. We thought he was awesome because someone stood up to Mars Bar and John Mcnab. We thought he was cool because he kept his promise to Amanda about the book. He also he was cool because he bunted a frog. We think he would be a good friend because he helps Amanda fix her book when it got ripped out by that dumb Mars Bar he is so mean. We also thought Maniac Magee would be a good friend because he even stood up for himself when Mars Bar was being mean to him. We think that Amanda laughed so hard because she never heard someone of doing that before. We think that Maniac Magee was puzzled because he would have never thought someone would run to school with a suitcase full of books.
Imagine that you are a cat and a huge dog is chasing you. Write about what you would do to outwit the dog and make your way to saftey.
Just keep running, just keep running! I tell to myself. I remember this day like it was the back of my hand. My grand kids love hearing this story, so here it goes. Here I am being chased by a huge dalmatian. I am running as fast as I can. I start slowing down as we pass a few corners. “I think I lost him,” I say out loud. A tree! Oh man I am running too fast! Oomph ( the sound when you run into a tree)… Yes! He’s gone! The dog must have ran right past me when I ran into the tree. Ha I always knew I was smart enough to get away from a dog. 2 minutes later The dog is back…NO! I start running faster than I ever knew I could run before. I then stopped behind a fence, but before I could do anything the dog grabbed me by the tail! The dog was taking me to a BIG hole!
Imagine that you are an animal in a zoo. What type of animal are you? How do you feel about being caged? How do you feel about people visiting and watching you?
If I could be any animal in the zoo, I would want to be a polar bear. I would want to be a polar bear because they can swim whenever they want, and I love swimming. Polar bears are awesome because they love to play in the snow, and so do I. I would not like to be caged because I would not be able to go very far. I would not mind about people visiting and watching me because I can show the people tricks that I can do. This is why I would choose a polar bear out of all the other zoo animals.
I would Like to be a lion because there in the cat family and I love cats. Another reason why I would want to be a Lion is because I could kill other animals and not worry about food and have mates to help me find food. If I was cadged I would not like it because I would want to be free and look for the food I want and I like having a lot of space and in a cage I would not have lots of space.
The last animal that we would like to be is a monkey. I would like to be a monkey because they can play whenever they want. If I would be caged up, I would not be happy. I would not enjoy being caged up because I would not be able to go so far or learn to get food by myself. I would not mind people watching me because I can show them my tricks. I would like to be a monkey because I can do tricks and entertain other people and monkeys are very awesome and I get to feed and play with monkeys when I was little so I know a little about them and If I was a monkey I would not like to be caged because I could not play that much I would not know how to get any food and it would not be very fun. This is why we would like to be a monkey.
What would america be like without the voting system
Without the voting system we would not be able to have an opinion about which president we would vote for. Also how would the president be selected if there was no voting system. In the article it says, “In state primaries and caucuses, party members vote for the presidential candidate who they believe best represents their particular party.” It would be really weird without a president. It would also be wierd if there was a White house with no one in it.
Each major political party holds a national convention during an election each year. Every Delegate from each country attend to the convention. The delegates are chosen from each state based on rules set by the political party. The delegates place the formal votes for the party’s candidate. So without the voting system we would not have a president and are country would not be runned right if we did not have a president.
Past the 2 centuries it has been very hard to select a president. When george washington was picked to be president in 1789 he was unanimously Selected. So if they did that now most people would not get the president that they wanted and that could go wild. Like Derek said it is very hard to select a president, so it would be even harder if there was not a voting system. This is how we thought it would be hard to select a president without a voting system.
How would you summarize “How to Become a United States Presidential Candidate.
When there is an election people run to be a candidate. Without the support of the major parties it is very hard to become a presidential candidate.Before they can run for president they have to be chosen by a political party. The parties provide support including funding, opportunities to easily send messages and ideas to many people. People vote for the presidential candidate. Major political parties have a national convention during election time. The delegates vote the formal votes for the party’s candidate. The candidate who gets the most delegates votes becomes the party’s candidate for the office of the president of the United States.
I think that we made a good summary because we stated how the order of how to do it. I also think that we did a good job summarizing because we sated some details that were needed. Another reason why I think that we did a good job summarizing because we stated what you need to do to go through the process. Finally, I think that we did a good job summarizing because we said the stages from candidate to presidential candidate.
Summaries don’t need extra things that are not needed and we didn’t do that. Plus we made it clear that the author also thought it was hard to become a presidential candidate. It even says in the article, “Selecting a president has been an increasingly complex process over the past two centuries.” We also made it clear how to become a presidential candidate. This is how we would summarize “How to Become a United States Presidential Candidate.

Think of a story you could write in which the characters face a challenge at sea.
“Sally! What do we do?” said Brian. Sally is 25 and Brian is 14. Brian got lost on his snowmobile. While he was riding in the Alaskan breeze, the ice below was melting. Then all of a sudden the ice fully broke into small pieces and Brian was stuck on one. Luckily the ice block had a little cave inside, so Brian decided to hide there, out of the cold, until someone came to look for him.
The best thing to do on a snow day
The best thing to do on a snow day is to go sledding. When you go sledding you can go as fast as a cheetah. You can also go sledding on a snow day because you can go fast that people might think that you are a road runner. I think that sledding is the best thing to do on a snow day because if you have a snow day then that means that the snow is bad, so you can go sledding in the snow because the snow will probably be packed. I think that sledding is fun for a snow day because you can go different speeds, what I mean by that is depending on the amount of snow you have you could go fast, slow, or it might not work at all. Another reason that I think sledding is a good thing to do on a snow day because you get to go down a hill at a fast speed (sometimes slow) and you get exercise from walking up the hill. The only thing that is bad about walking up the hill is that it can be tiring and it also can waste time, but it is worth the walk.
I think that sledding is a good thing to do on a snow day because you get to spend time with your friends. Another reason why I think sledding is a good thing to do on a snow day is because you get the thrill of going down a hill (and almost running into the shed). I also think that sledding is a good thing to do on a snow day because you can race your friends up the hill. That place is super fun because they have giant hills that you can go super fast on. These are the reasons why we think sledding is the best thing to do on a snow day.
What is the author’s attitude toward the subject of the story
The author’s attitude toward the story is that he is feeling doubtful. He is feeling doubtful because in the story it states “ It’s very difficult to become a presidential candidate without the support of one of the major parties. We think that he is feeling doubtful because of this sentence because he is not having faith in the candidate’s. He is also not very positive. We know this because it says that it is very unlikely for the candidate to become a presidential candidate without support from at least one of the major parties.
I think that the author’s other attitudes are that the author does not believe that it is easy to become a presidential candidate. I know this because the article states “It’s very difficult to become a presidential candidate without the support of one of the major parties.” The sentence from the article says that it’s hard to become a presidential candidate without at least one of the major parties to support you. I think that the author does not believe that it is easy to become a presidential candidate because of that sentence. The reason that I think that that sentence is why the author’s attitude is that he does not believe that is is easy to become a presidential candidate because even if you don’t have one of the major parties on your side you could still become a presidential candidate.
I think the author is being very specific. I think this because it shows a diagram of which countries voted for a president. In the one picture it shows that most people voted for Barack Obama (that was for the Democratic). Then for the Republican most people voted for John McCain. That is how I thought the author was specific.
How can fiction bring imaginary ideas to life

Fiction can bring imaginary ideas to life when a character is in action. When characters are in action it makes them realistic because people run and ride horses like in fairy tales. People are always in action when they are running or walking or even skipping. Also people that are in action remind me of fiction people because we can do what they are doing (well only when they are in action). That is how fiction brings imaginary ideas to life when a character is in action.
Fiction can bring imaginary ideas to life when an animal runs away. When an animal runs away in a fairy tale it makes it realistic because in real life animals really do run away from home. When an animal runs away the owner can/usually come after it and that can happen in fairy tales or any kind of fiction story. When an animal runs away you can also make posters so people know that the animal is missing.
Fiction can also bring scenes, such as a park or a school to life. It can do this because in some stories people are in a park or in a school. In real life kids spend most of their day on Monday’s-Friday’s in school and sometimes when kids get home they go to the park to play.In some stories most people take a walk in the park. Some kids in stories go to school for a full day or for a half a day. We hope that these three paragraphs let you know the answer to “How can fiction bring imaginary ideas to life?
