How important is the family dynamic in today’s society? Should children still obey their parents? For how long?
I think children should obey their parents when they are younger. However when kids get to a certain age they need to make decisions for themselves. I don’t think that children should be expected to follow their parents their whole lives because they have to have their own beliefs.
How Much Can You Control The Kind Of Person You Grow Up To Be?
I feel like the type of person you grow up to be depends on the environment you grow up in. Some people grow up to be the type of people their parents are. I feel like you can control the type of person you are to some extent. I feel like once you get to a certain age you have your own thoughts and beliefs and you begin to become your own person.
Outlandish dreams v. no dream
I personally think it’s better to have outlandish dreams then none at all. If you have no dreams, you have nothing to look forward to and no goals to strive for. Any kind of dream can give you the motivation to do things. Even if the dream seems unreachable it’s what drives people to do better. Having no dream at all also makes your life dull and boring.
Rev Hale characterization

Reverend Hale says, “Open yourself, Tituba-open yourself and let God’s holy light shine on you.” (43)
Reverend Hale is nearing his forties. The book describes him as an “eager-eyed intellectual”.
Independent novel project-Little Women

How much are our actions a reflection of our own autonomy vs what society (our parents, our religion, our circumstances, etc) pushes us to think and do? What can we do about this?
I feel like society pushes people to try and think a certain way. As we become more technologically advanced, we begin to lose our individuality more and more. I feel like things like social media makes us all try to be like others instead of ourselves. We see pictures of people on social media and we want to be more like them. I feel like society is a lot more close minded too. People get greatly offended if you have a different opinion then them. Something we can do to try, and help is to spend more time offline. We should also try to encourage people to have their own opinions and be respectful instead of being upset whenever someone disagrees with something you say.
First Impression
The book I chose for my independent novel project was Little Women by Louisa May Alcott. My initial impressions of the book is that it is a little hard to understand. The book is worded in a way that confuses me a little. It is however interesting so far. I’m excited to see where the book leads and hearing the rest of the story.
A Quote…
I like this quote because it is true. Every single person you meet is fighting their own battles that you may not know about. No ones life is perfect, people may put on an act and pretend that everything is okay when it really isn’t. So you should always be nice to people because you don’t know the hardships they have to go through or what their life is like.
