First Few Weeks

Over the next few weeks your child will get to know Mr. Larkin, the classroom expectations, and the Full Option Science Solutions (FOSS) along with Engineering in Education (EIE) investigations.

The first week is just for setting standards, rules, and procedures.  This will be the least exciting week of all of the weeks to come but a necessary part of a safe and fun learning environment.

Week two will be the true start  of our explorations into Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM).  This week, we will do pre-kit activities aimed at the beginning stages of the scientific and engineering  methods.  We will begin to define the different parts of STEM.

Week three is the beginning of a life long, hands-on, inquisitive exploration of their world using investigative kits designed to discover different parts of the natural and man-made environments they may encounter.  Most of the kits were developed by The Lawrence Hall of Science, University of California, Berkeley and the National Center for Technology Literacy, Museum of Science, Boston.

I look forward to being a part of your child’s learning.  Contact me if you have any questions, concerns, or comments.
