If you ever go to Washington DC, you should definitely visit….
If you’re ever going to go to Washington DC, you should definitely visit the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, The Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and the Natural History museum. There was so much things to do and, so many things to see. Unfortunately when my grade went to Washington DC, it was pouring down rain. Luckily we were inside for some of the day.
First, when we got there we saw the Washington Monument. The Washington Monument, is a slim, but tall structure. With a small body of water in the front it was the perfect place for pictures. The monument is 555 feet tall, for the nation’s foremost honorary president, and the first president, George Washington. The structure is 90,854 tons, $1,187,710, and to be more exact, 555 feet 5 1/8 inches (169.29 meters). So if you are going to Washington DC. The Washington Memorial is a definite must see!
Our next, destination was the Lincoln Memorial. This memorial was built in honor of our 16th president, you guessed it, Abraham Lincoln. This memorial was a great learning experience for all ages. It shows the importance of our 16th president Abraham Lincoln. The height of the Lincoln Memorial is 99 feet. The sculpture of the sitting Abraham Lincoln himself is 19 feet. Also did you know that, At the time of Abraham Lincoln’s death there were 36 states of the Union. This is the reason that there were 36 columns designed into the Lincoln Memorial. Also there are 87 steps from the Reflecting Pool to Lincoln’s statue in the monument. The number 87 represents ‘four score and 7’ as Abraham Lincoln spoke in his famous Gettysburg Address. I found the Lincoln Memorial one of the “must visit” places when touring and seeing things in Washington DC.
Next stop the The Vietnam Veterans Memorial. The Vietnam Veterans Memorial is a memorial that there are there were 57,939 names inscribed on the Memorial. As of Memorial Day 2017, there are 58,318 names. That is a lot of Veterans, will to save our country. If what to learn more about the people that fought in the Vietnam war, and help to save the country, you should definitely the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
Our last stop was the Natural History Museum. What is the Natural History Museum? Well, this museum shows the natural history of america and the universe. (I guess you could find that out based on the name.) You could see animals (not still living), gems, and tons of other things. I thought that the Natural History Muesum was amazing and I could not wait to see everything. I think that if you are interested in natural history, gems, astroids, and the solar system.
I could not write all of this on my own….
