The Battle of Gettysburg

The Battle Of Gettysburg
It was the day that we were scouting the forest when we encountered some Confederate soldiers. The three of us quickly dove into a nearby cave and raised our rifles and listened diligently to the crunch of the leaves. The five men instantly turned to the opening of the cave. I raised my rifle and aimed it at the person. Then there was a BANG The solder fell on the ground then the 4 more soldiers ran quickly over into the cave and a huge gunfight broke out BOOM, BANG till finally all of them were on the ground. We could here more footsteps in the distance by then we ran back to base camp.

We got back to camp in late dusk. We told general George Meade Led What we saw and what direction they were heading. Early in the morning when the trumpet sounded the general told us that we were heading to Gettysburg Pennsylvania. We packed the wagons and the thousands of soldiers marched from New york to south east PA. About 15 of us didn’t make it because of the very bad starvation and outbreaks of measles, smallpox, camp itch and skin disease.

It was the second day of warfare and so far it looked like the Confederate was going to win but at the third day we were finishing them off and though we were almost out of supplies. When the south retreated we knew that we had won. Cheers echoed across the valley.
