THANK YOU AND HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
On Wednesday, December 5th, Alumni Director Ken Link, and Alumni Coordinator Benji Gillespie,
presented to Garden Spot High School Health Classes about Substance Abuse, Addiction, Treatment, and Recovery.
Our class attended one of the lectures, and then we hosted the presenters for a private lunch in our classroom. The students got to ask questions and talk with Ken and Benji about their experiences.
On Tuesday, December 4th, the students traveled to Cross Net Ministries to volunteer stocking the center’s FOOD PANTRY.
Community Service is an important part of our program, as students give back to the New Holland Community and earn service hours towards graduation.
On Tuesday, November 6th, the students enjoyed a search and apprehension K-9 presentation. Visiting with K-9 Edik, were Deputies Cole and Santiago from the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.
Officer Cole, Santiago, and Edik demonstrated obedience, detection and apprehension skills.
Look for progress reports by email sometime after 10/31 for the first marking period!
WE ARE COOKING!!
Once every month, the students venture to the food lab where they prepare a meal of their choice. This month we made delicious tacos with all the traditional toppings, and pumpkin pie bites.
On October 17th, the students traveled to Hawk Valley Community, with Landmark Homes in Lancaster. This event is an annual partnership between Landmark Homes and Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology.
By way of a walking tour, the students viewed the entire process of new home construction. Lunch was provided and the students were awarded prizes and free tee-shirts.
