Each Kindergarten class enjoyed a variety of “retold” gingerbread man/baby/boy/friend stories.  We compared and contrasted them and then retold and sequenced the original.  After that, we decorated a cookie and also graphed which part we bit first!

It was so funny how offended the kids were at the end of the original story when the fox ate the gingerbread man….So it was fun to point out to them, after they ate their decorated cookies, that they were like the “fox” 🙂

We had a special visitor/helper in the afternoon class…..Miss Pat, my mom!  The kids enjoyed meeting her!

We partnered up with a fifth grade class.  They brought a holiday book to read to us, and we read a book to them!  Afterwards we played a game together!  Now we look to wave to them as we pass their class after music each week!

We have some awesome fifth grade students here at New Holland Elementary!  Mrs. Eberly thinks that some of them have a future in teaching!  They were all very kind and helpful!  We hope to get together again sometime to do computer buddies or math buddies!

The afternoon class also had a great time feasting with our neighbors in Mrs. Peter’s class!

We learned about where and how pumpkins grow, what we can make from a pumpkin, and then we investigated a pumpkin.

Some thought it was fun.  Others thought it was gross.   And some even thought I was crazy for suggesting we dig out the seeds!  It was a great day to be in Kindergarten!

  It is so much fun to teach these kids!

ADORABLE!!!  While I combed Goodwill and could not get inspired with the 50’s theme, parents and students all over the New Holland area thought of GREAT little outfits!  Look at these poodle skirts, jackets, glasses, rolled jeans and cute kiddos!

It was chilly, but Kindergarteners were troopers and enjoyed their race time!

The air even seemed cooler this afternoon, but that didn’t stop the PM class from having fun!!

The morning class enjoyed meeting our local Firefighters and seeing the truck!

Summer is always a WONDERFUL time to relax, reflect, regroup, reorganize, and reconnect with my family and friends.  Once July is coming to a close I always get the excited butterflies in my stomach about beginning a new year!

I have been working with students during summer school this year.  As that is winding down, I am excited to turn my attention to setting up our room and getting things ready for our year together.  I am very excited to meet all of you!

I just wanted to let you all know, I will be sending out my welcome letter in the beginning of August.  In the meantime, if you pass a back to school display—KEEP WALKING 🙂  Your child will only need to bring a backpack to Kindergarten.

IF you do end up buying those yellow number twos and paper, I would encourage you to set up a “working” station at home.  Have your child practice writing his/her name and some numbers.
