About rbarrett

Hello Elanco! My name is Mr. Barrett and I am excited to be the new health and physical education teacher at the New Holland Elementary School. This is my ninth year as a health and physical education teacher. I have had teaching experiences with urban, suburban, and rural populations of students ranging from kindergarten thru twelfth grade. I earned my Bachelor's degree in K-12 Health and Physical Education at Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania. My hobbies include spending time with my one and half year old son and my wife, staying physically active, and traveling to the beach and the Poconos. I have two cats that are named Felix and Chase. I am a huge fan of Philadelphia professional sports teams such as the Phillies, Flyers, Eagles, and Sixers. As the health and physical education teacher at New Holland Elementary School, I believe it is imperative for teachers, parents, and local community members to foster and promote a healthy learning environment for all students to adopt healthy eating habits, increasing daily physical activity, and developing young learners as good citizens of character. Here is to fun and engaging 2015-2016 school year at New Holland! Sincerely, Mr. Barrett Health and Physical Education Teacher New Holland Elementary School 126 Eastern School Road New Holland, PA 17557 robert_barrett@elanco.org

“Oh The Places We Can Go” 6th Grade Trip to Alvernia University

On Saturday, January 30th, Ms. Sneath, the 6th Grade Teachers, and I visited the college campus of Alvernia University with twenty energetic 6th grade students & seven supportive parents from New Holland Elementary School. During our visit to Alvernia University, Alvernia gave us a tour of the college, some yummy cheese pizza from Mimmo’s Pizzeria, & tickets to the Alvernia Men’s Basketball home contest. We stayed the entire second half of the game to cheer on the Alvernia Crusaders to a nail-biting 72-64 victory over the Messiah Falcons. At the end of the game, the students gathered for a perfect group photo:

We created some amazing memories together at Alvernia University.  We hope to see many more 6th graders to our next two scheduled college campus tours.
