Sam Schultz – Marketing & Event Planning Internship

Hello, my name is Samuel Schultz, and I am a senior at Garden Spot High School.  I have the chance to take an internship as a marketing, advertising, and event planner. My internship is at Emerald Foundation which is in Lancaster; but due to this different year, I am doing my internship remotely at home and through Zoom. I meet with my mentor, James Roussel, throughout the week where we review projects that include graphic design, advertising, social media posts, and more.

One lesson that I learned is the time and effort it takes to create a quality advertisement that engages the intended audience. When I started working on the first larger project I had the opportunity to learn and use Adobe Photoshop & Adobe InDesign.  I also learned about the advertising guidelines, specific color schemes, and the voice that the Emerald Foundation uses for advertising.

This internship gave me a taste of what a career in marketing and graphic design could be like.  My hope is that I will be attending Millersville University for Graphic Design and then finding a job where I can pursue what I love doing and enjoy.  In all, I love my experience with Emerald Foundation because my mentor has given me so much guidance to help me be more successful in my future career.
