Mrs. Chernigo

Hello! My name is Mrs. Chernigo, and I’m one of the third grade teachers at New Holland Elementary School. I’ve taught for 10 years with the last 4 being at New Holland. Prior to working at NHES, I taught 4th and 5th grade as well as learning support at Newport Elementary School. Teaching has always been my passion since the time I was lining up my dolls and teaching them to read. That’s why I pursued my Bachelor’s of Science in Elementary Education from Lebanon Valley College. I continued my education and received a Master’s degree in Classroom Technology from Wilkes University. In my free time I love to run and read. I have run a marathon and hope to run a half at some point this year.

My husband and I have been married for seven years. We have a dog, Te’o, who is seven years old and a big ball of energy. We love to take him for walks, throw the Frisbee, and give lots of belly rubs. He was our first “baby” and even all these years later still acts like the little pup we rescued from the shelter. I’m sure you’re child will be able to tell you all about his crazy shenanigans as I love to share stories about him.

A little over a year ago, we welcomed our second baby, Sadie, into the world. She is the apple of our eye and has been the greatest blessing imaginable. The past year has been amazing as we’ve watched her grow and overcome many obstacles. It is an incredible reminder that everything, even rolling over, once seemed insurmountable. She loves to read, play outside, and eat everything she can get her hands on (edible or not). As with Te’o, your child will hear many stories about this spirited little girl.

I look forward to working with you and your child this year. Please check out the blog to keep an eye on upcoming events as well as recaps of what the students have been learning as told by the students. Please feel free to contact me at any point with questions or concerns about your child.
