Everyone had a fantastic time on our field trip to the Whitaker Center today! The students were able to explore the science center and engage in fun, hands on learning activities. We also saw an exciting 3D Imax movie. The movie we saw this year explored space and the various aspects of an astronaut’s job.

Today the second graders celebrated our awesome behavior with our April Star Party! All of the second graders were either stars or rock stars! This month, we had a slime party to celebrate. All students were able to make slime today. The rock stars were also able to add color to their slime. After students finished making their slime, they had time to play with it. Everyone LOVED it!

The students asked me to post the recipe that we used so that they could make it at home. First, students squeezed a 4 ounce bottle of glue into a plastic cup. After your glue is in your cup, put about 5 drops of food coloring to make your slime even more fun! Once you mix the color all throughout the glue, add a tablespoon of Sta-Flo liquid starch. We also added a very little bit of baking soda to make it a little less sticky.

As you can see from the pictures, the kids loved it!

Just a reminder that our field trip is this Friday, April 28th. Here are a few helpful tips!

• All students should be here when the bell rings to attend our field trip.  We will be leaving right after announcements.
• Each student should bring a completely disposable lunch. We will be throwing the lunch bag and everything else away once we finish lunch.
• Your child should not bring any money or a camera. We will not be stopping at the gift shop.
• Even though we will be going on the field trip, please send your child in with his/her backpack since we may have notes from the office to take home.

Yesterday we had our second grade concert during the day for the other students and at 7:00 for our families. The kiddos did such a fantastic job! Thank you so much for everyone that came to support them and donated snack items! Here are some pictures for those of you that were not able to make it!

The doors will open at 6:30 for you to find your seat in the Brecknock Gymnasium. Your child should make sure to be in our homeroom by 6:45.

Mr. Goodman is asking students to wear black bottoms and a spring colored shirt. If your child does not have these items, they can wear their Sunday best. 🙂
