Well all of this snow is certainly making our schedule a little crazy! We are continuing to move along and accomplish great things.

Reading: We will finish with our story, Around One Cactus, this week. Our focus skill is cause and effect and students will practice this skill during whole and small group as well. Our Reading Street test and spelling test will be on Thursday this week because we are off on Friday.

Writing: We will be taking our second Writing Sample on Wednesday. I’m excited to see how much the students have grown since the fall!

Math: We are continuing with our fractions unit. Students have been working with comparing fractions with like and unlike denominators. We have also explored fractions greater, less than, or equal to 1/2.

Science: In science, we started our unit on landforms, but took a few days to share our social studies presentations on communities. We will continue to landforms this week.

Odds & Ends:

February 13- Valentine’s Day Celebration

Last week, I sent home a sheet with each of the students’ names. If your child wishes to participate, please send in a valentine for all 17 students. We will also be joining Mrs. Stoppi’s class for hot chocolate. Please send in a mug with your child on this day as well.

February 14- No School

February 17- Snow Make-up Day

February 18- Spring Pictures
