Otzi was a brave warrior fighting battles side by side with the king and the rest of the royal guards. But during one of his battles Otzi was injured. His foot got decapitated by an enemy. Of course he couldn’t keep fighting in these conditions so he was sent home. Discouraged Otzi agreed and was hauled away feeling like he failed the king.

When Otzi was in the castle they took him to get bandaged up. When just then it hit him, if he wasn’t fighting in war anymore how would he keep a living?, how would he be able to pay taxes? Otzi didn’t want to get kicked out onto the street for he might die. When Otzi was all finished being bandaged up and well on his way out the castle when he thought why not just steal a little bit of gold, I mean the king has more than he can count right? On his way out when no one was looking he stole a golden vase and a few blocks of gold. Surprisingly Otzi got away with the treasure. Otzi didn’t tell anyone thinking they might think less of him. He was well know throughout the whole village and more. Everyone looked up to him.

Otzi finally got home and hid the treasure until it was truly needed. A few weeks later he sold a block of gold for some shoes, food, clothes and bedding.

A few years have past and Otzi is now using a wooden cane he had  bought with the gold. But the problem was Otzi was all out of gold and was wondering what he should do while he was eating some cereal. Should he go back to the castle and steal just a wee bit more of the treasures? Or should he get a job and try to earn some money by himself?

While Otzi was trying to figure it out he heard a loud knock at the door. Who could that be, Otzi moaned.  When he looked out the window by the door he saw three fellow soldiers who looked armed and angry. Otzi thought to himself “ they must have figured it out that I stole gold from the king a few years ago when I was sent away from the war.” So, he decided to grab a little carrying bag so that when he escapes he wouldn’t be empty handed.

So, Otzi grabbed a few things like, a copper axe, flint-bladed knife, 14 arrows. Even though he knew that 12 of those arrows were unfinished he might be able to finish it on the trip. Then after Otzi finished packing for his long journey not knowing if he would even come back alive he started layering up for the cold harsh weather that he was about to encounter. Then he heard one of his fellow soldiers say “ open up to the name of the king” . So, Otzi ran out the back door and started his long journey up the cold snowy mountains. From a little ways up the mountain he heard the soldiers breaking down his door.

Knowing that they wouldn’t be far behind them Otzi started to run even faster now. The sun went down and the moon came up so Otzi made capm. While he was asleep he heard a rustling in the bushes  so he quickly got  in case it was the soldiers coming for him. But when he was in a position ready to fight  he saw that it wasn’t the soldiers and it was just a small goat. Otzi decided to hunt the goat and eat it for breakfast. After he ate his breakfast and packed up he started on his journey again.

While he was walking he heard a noise from behind him but when he looked behind him there wasn’t anything or anyone there. That same exact thing happened 2 more times so Otzi just thought that it could be some kind of animal following him. So all the other times he heard the noise he ignored it until, WHOOSH!!!

Otzi had been hit by an arrow by one of the soldiers. To Otzi it felt like no pain he had ever felt before. It felt like he was being stabbed by a thousand knives. He had no words only regrets that he would have had been more loyal to his king. And then everything went black. Letting him rot there and die, the soldiers ran off back to the kingdom to bring the great news to the king. When the King got the news that Otzi had been killed he felt both discouraged that one of his best soldiers had been killed but at the same time joyous knowing that the thief had gotten what he deserved.

  1. I love how you made it in to a cool story and also that you told me about what happened and what he did to end up on the mountain. I just wish that you have told my what the season was and how many layers of clothes he was wearing to go up the mountain.

  2. Star: (You did a great job with filling in all the missing facts about the Iceman. You made it seem like everything you said was supposed to be there.)
Wish: (I wish you would have talked more about how he was found thousands of years later in ice that preserved his body.)
Wonder: (What if the people who killed him weren’t real soldiers. They might’ve been peasant men (or a man) that accidentally shot him with an arrow. The person might’ve been trying to shoot an animal that was near the Iceman. He might’ve taken out the body of the arrow to cover his tracks so that he didn’t get killed.)
