Mrs. McCabe

Hello Families! My name is Amber McCabe. I am thrilled to be your child’s first grade teacher this school year. We are going to have an exciting year of exploring, learning, and growing together.

This is my 11th year working at ELanCo School District.  Over the years I have had the opportunity to teach 6th grade, 4th grade, STEM, and my favorite, 1st grade! In 2008, I graduated from Eastern University with a Bachelors in K-6 Elementary Education.  A few years later, I received my Masters in Elementary Education from the University of Wisconsin, with a focus on problem-based learning and curriculum and instruction.

Let me tell you a little bit more about myself.  I grew up in Lancaster County my entire life and graduated from Ephrata High School.  My husband, on the other hand, was born and raised across the Atlantic in Scotland. He came to the United States to coach soccer a few years before we met at church. We have been married for 9 years and have two beautiful and energetic children.  My daughter, Kayleigh, is in Kindergarten this year and my son, Kian, is 2 and enjoys dinosaurs and superheroes! I love spending time with my family, especially playing outside, singing and dancing.

I believe that having a strong home-school connection is an important component in your child’s academic success.  Each year I work hard to create a classroom environment where my students feel valued and are motivated to do their best. I want to thank you in advance for your support as we begin this school year together. I look forward to working with you! If you have any questions or concerns throughout the year, please don’t hesitate to send an email or call me at the school. Also, make sure to connect to our classroom Seesaw account for updates, information, and posts about your child’s learning.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Amber McCabe
