End of Marking Period 3: March 28, 2019

We are quickly approaching the end of Marking period 3! Quarterly progress reports will be in your email by early next week. As we head into the last 45 days of the school year, please encourage your learner to make every effort to finish the year strong!

End of Semester 1: January 17, 2019

As we wrap up Semester 1 and Marking Period 2, please look for progress reports in your email the week of January 22, 2019.  A paper copy will also be sent home with your student.

2018-19 SEMESTER 1: FORMAL PERIODIC EVALUATION Scheduling Now

Your student should have brought home a form that gives you a choice of days and times for the SEMESTER 1 conferences. All students will be evaluated by the Alt. Ed. team, and according to progress made on behavioral goals,  have a recommended placement for SEMESTER 2.

The meetings will be held on the following dates and at the following times:

  • January 7, 2019 From 8:15 AM to 1:30 PM and
  • January 8, 2019 from 12:00 PM-2:00 PM.

Foundations Wellness Center Presents to GSHS Students

   On Wednesday, December 5th, Alumni Director Ken Link, and Alumni Coordinator Benji Gillespie,                   

presented to Garden Spot High School Health Classes about Substance Abuse,                                               Addiction, Treatment,  and Recovery.

                                                 

 

Our class attended one of the lectures, and then we hosted the presenters for a private lunch in our classroom. The students got to ask questions and talk with Ken and Benji about their experiences.

Students Volunteer at Cross Net Ministries

On Tuesday, December 4th, the students traveled to Cross Net Ministries to volunteer stocking the center’s FOOD PANTRY.

Community Service is an important part of our program, as students give back to the New Holland Community and earn service hours towards graduation.

Lancaster Sheriff’s Office K-9 Presentation

On Tuesday, November 6th, the students enjoyed a search and apprehension K-9 presentation. Visiting with K-9 Edik, were Deputies Cole and Santiago from the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office. 

Officer Cole, Santiago, and Edik demonstrated obedience, detection and apprehension skills.

Culinary Arts Day: October 22, 2018

WE ARE COOKING!!

Once every month, the students venture to the food lab where they prepare a meal of their choice. This month we made delicious tacos with all the traditional toppings,  and pumpkin pie bites.

5th Annual Construction Trades Day, October 17th, 2018

Under Construction, Construction Site

On October 17th, the students traveled to Hawk Valley Community, with Landmark Homes in Lancaster. This event is an annual partnership between Landmark Homes and Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology.

By way of a walking tour, the students viewed the entire process of new home construction. Lunch was provided and the students were awarded prizes and free tee-shirts.
