Eagle

Hello All,

This morning we started a new writing project.  Thanks to Mrs. Horst, I finally located the link to the Eagle Cam!!!  Here it is  if you want to join in the fun/watching at home:    http://lancasteronline.com/eaglecam/

Our writing project is:  We will “check in” on the camera a few times a week and then journal about what we see is happening.  This journal writing supports our “informational” writing benchmark this quarter!  I am so excited to see how enthused the kids are to write these entries!

Here is a sneak-peek into our day!image image 2

DATES TO HIGHLIGHT

Good Evening,

I am sitting here feeling pretty “on top of things” because your March newsletters are sitting on top of you child’s desk!!!  YAY!!  Be sure to look for them tomorrow.

However, I neglected to highlight a few dates……

During the week of March 2nd, our school will be doing a Dr. Seuss themed Spirit Week to celebrate “Read Across America”. The Spirit Week themes are as follows:

Monday, March 2ndFox in Socks- Crazy Sock Day

Tuesday, March 3rdThe Cat in the Hat- Hat Day

Wednesday, March 4thWacky Wednesday- Dress Wacky

Thursday, March 5thMy Many Colored Days- Wear Your Favorite Color

Friday, March 6thI Am Not Going to Get Up TodayWear Sweatpants and Sneakers

I am certain the kids will want to participate!!!  I do have the spirit dates noted on the calendar, just wanted to promote the fun!!

Spelling Test

There will be no spelling test this Friday, February 20th.  I have decided to extend our week so that the students can perform plays and also to make sure they have extra time to learn their words! Therefore, the test on words with -er and -est will be on Friday, February, 27th!

Craft Idea

Do you have a child who likes to keep EVERYTHING????  Not sure what you are going to do with that box of Valentines that is coming home today????

Here is a cute idea I did with my kids when they were young:

Get some clear contact paper (in the housewares isle).  Cut a pretty long piece for your child.  Then tape down the corners.  Allow your child to arrange their valentines on the sticky side.  Lastly, cut another strip of the contact paper and place it carefully on top of the other piece.  WALLAH…..You have a Valentine’s place mat.

Behavior

Hello Parents!

I wanted to let you know that as of today the students will begin coloring their color again!  They are excited to share this with you.  There are several reasons that led to this decision:

  • The students and I have a new routine so that honesty is not only expected, but will be accounted for.
  • I miss the home-school connection.  I appreciate your partnership (affirming good behavior and having a conversation about negative behavior).
  • I also believe the kids miss “sharing” their color.
  • For some, their has been a decline in good behavior.  I want you to be aware.

Note that:

  1. Purple = Outstanding
  2. Blue = Great Job!!
  3. Red = Good Work
  4. Green = Ready to learn
  5. Orange = Think about it!
  6. Brown = Consequence
  7. Yellow = Note sent home
