Meet the Teacher

Personal Life:  I live with my husband Bill and my children Lindsay (31) and Corey (24) in East Earl Township. My family and I are very close, and enjoy doing lots of activities together. My daughter and her husband Chris are both teachers at Penn Manor High School. We cherish our summers together and enjoy reading books, playing tennis, crafts, and talking about all things education. My son Corey graduated from Lycoming College in May of 2018 and just completed his first year as a police officer with Northern Lancaster County Regional Police Department. My family is very committed to animal rescue. We have 1 dog that we adopted last year from Main Line Rescue. His name is Angus, and he is an American Bulldog mix. I also have a grandpup named Hoss. He is a Bull Terrier/Pit Bull mix. Don’t the breed fool you….he’s a real sweetheart and our baby.  My family and I also enjoy lots of outdoor activities, sports, (Go Phillies and Eagles!) traveling, history, and spending time with each other.

Professional Life: Last year I completed my 31st year of teaching in the ELANCO School District.  I began my career as a Life Skills Teacher, and a Learning Support Teacher at Caernarvon Elementary in 1988 after graduating from Millersville University.  In 1992 my Learning Support classroom and I moved to Brecknock Elementary.  For the next 8 years I served as Learning Support teacher at Brecknock. The skills that I honed those years, and the experiences that I had, greatly influenced the teaching style and philosophies that I have today. For the past 18 years, I have enjoyed teaching 5th and 6th grade respectively. This is my fourth year teaching at New Holland Elementary. I love the diversity of our students, awesome staff, and supportive parents here at NHES!
