My Community #16STUBC Week 8

Launch of Global Citizenship - Marine Environment theme Green-Schools via Compfight

I am talking about my community at home.  A advantage of being in a community is you work together to accomplish things, like keeping your community clean, and helping animals stay safe.  A disadvantage is that some times my community hunts, also some times they also litter.

I am part of my school community, GOTR community, blog community, church community, and a coding community.  I would like to be part of a Philadelphia community when I grow up.  My role in my community is to take care of my community, and to have fun!  Some responsibilities of being part of a community are that you have to help everybody, unless they are doing something bad.

A way you can become a part of a community is you can help there, and live there.  As long as your community is healthy, you will live happy.  A value of being part of a community is you can be helped by many people.

My Family members come to my house for Thanksgiving.  My Aunt and Uncle come, also my 2 cousins come to.  My Grandma and Grandpa live with us so of course they are there.

For dinner we eat turkey, stuffing, mash potatoes, and for dessert…pie!  Now I do not remember anything else except for the story of Tiny Tom The “Turkey”.

                                         Tiny Tom The Turkey

One day I was sitting down for dinner, my family was sick.  That Thanksgiving we had a tiny “turkey”.  My older brother, Finn, named him/her Tiny Tom The “Turkey”  On 11/21/16 I learned Tiny Tom The “Turkey” was a chicken.

2 Amazing Animals

 Lions Rescue Girl From Kidnappers

A 12 year old girl was kidnapped by 10 men, she was coming home from school.  It was said they were trying to force her into marriage.  A month later the kidnappers still had her, but this time police were chasing them.  Then 3 lions chased them away.  The surprising thing was, she was not harmed by the lions.  They stayed with her because the screams of her sounded like lion cubs.  They cut ropes around her arms with their sharp teeth.

The policemen found the girl and at first the lions were biting and scratching at the police, but then they calmed down and let them take her.  The police saw the kidnappers, and put them in prison forever.  There they learned their lesson, and still are.  Most people think it’s a miracle because lions would usually attack people.

Kaun The Amazing Dog

Kaun had only been a member of a family for a few days when he saved the family’s toddler, Charlotte.  Catherine was watching the 2 play in the yard when suddenly, Kaun pushed Charlotte to the side.  After making sure Charlotte was ok, Catherine realized Kaun had been bitten by a King brown snake.  Kaun was ok because they acted quickly and gave him vaccines.

Ligers Free wright: #16STUBC

Big Cat Habitat & Gulf Coast Sanctuary Jim Mullhaupt via Compfight

Ligers are a cross between two different species of big cats, a female tiger, and a male lion.  Ligers like swimming like tigers, and they are very social like lions.  Ligers are only in captivity because scientist don’t know if they should be put in tiger environment or lion environment.

Ligers are the biggest cat in the world.  Ligers have faint stripes and have a lion color.  The longest living liger lived to be 24 years old.  Ligers reach a total length of 3 to 3.6 m, they are larger than Siberian tigers.  In the wild a Tiger’s favorite food is Deer and Wild Boar but Ligers will eat large and small mammals and including fish, frogs and crabs and some vegetation such as grass.

Fire Drill

Are You Prepared For A Fire?

During a fire drill you have to be quick, safe, and prepared.  Here are some fact on what to do.

  1. If you catch on fire, stop, drop, and roll.
  2. Get out of the building as quickly as you can.
  3. Stay low if there is smoke because it is bad to breath in.
  4. Put the back of your hand on the door before opening so you know if you can open it without burning yourself.
  5. Escapes include doors, and windows.
  6. Call 911, and have a fire-extinguisher in hand.
  7. Have a meeting place so you can meet with whoever’s in the house with you.
  8. Take all fire hazards away, such as paper or fabric near fire or a stove, and keep matches up high were little kids can’t get them (not that they can light them).

If you can do all these you should be safe for a fire, stay safe and stay calm!   (:
