Sunday, June 21

Our day started at 8:15 am.  First, we cycled through the beautiful town of Hoi An arriving at an organic veggie farm taken care of by two elderly women.  After watering and tilling some of the spring onions and lemongrass, we were off again on muddy trails to the water buffalo.  In groups of three, people took short rides on the two water buffalo.  Then we biked through Hoi An again to our tour boat.  After a short drive, we got in authentic basket boats and traveled through canals used during the war. Afterwards, we tried our luck at fishing with locals in small groups.  We tried two types of fishing – one on land and one in the water. Next, we were split into two groups, juniors vs. the other grades, to partner basket boat race off the shore. After a junior victory, we enjoyed a seafood lunch on our Jack Tran EcoTour boat. Around 2:30 pm we arrived back at the hotel. Students then split up – some going shopping, others to the beach, and some to get a well-deserved massage. At 7:30 pm the group got together again to walk to dinner.  However, a downpour caused us to take taxi vans instead.  We arrived back at the resort around 10 pm and students went o bed. Despite the constant rain throughout the day, we had an enjoyable adventure.
