“The Rose That Grew From Concrete…”

“The Rose that Grew from Concrete” by Tupac Shakur

Did you hear about the rose that grew
from a crack in the concrete?
Proving nature’s law is wrong it
learned to walk without having feet
Funny it seems, but by keeping its dreams,
it learned to breathe fresh air.
Long live the rose that grew from concrete
when no one else ever cared.

What is he trying to teach in this poem?

I think Tupac Shakur is trying to teach us that it doesn’t matter what people say it doesn’t matter if everyone doubts you because in the end you can be like the “rose” and prove everyone wrong and show them that you do matter in a way.

What does the rose symbolize?

The rose symbolizes a person that nobody likes or cares about. Then at the end of the poem the person “rose” would overcome everybody and stand up for themselves. They won’t care about what people say and maybe people will be on their side for once and they will finally feel excepted and cared for because they just proved everyone wrong.

What is his tone towards his subject?
I feel that he is humble in away about it,  and that he kinda feels hopeful to the rose.

PSSA’s…

The PSSA’s are coming!

The PSSA is, “a standardized test administrated to public schools in the state of Pennsylvania.” Now some people like the PSSA’s but then there’s people that don’t like the PSSA’s. I’m kinda in between that. When we have the PSSA’s are schedule is very different. So I like that, I mean I like having a different schedule but…

I don’t like the test. I like everything before and after the test but that four hours during the day just for testing is horrible. Once we finish the test we can’t do anything and I understand that, but really? Like come on! I think I feel this way because I don’t like test’s. You know I think that’s it!

Is Rap a Form of Poetry?

Is rap a form of poetry?

YES! Of course! Most times in rap artist like to repeat things or make words sound alike. Which the same thing is most time found in poetry. I think rappers might have excelled more in reading and writing then like math and science, because rapping is basically a form of writing put to music. Don’t you think?

Boston, Massachusetts…

This past August I went to Boston, Massachusetts. I had so much fun there. When you go to Boston you can seriously do anything. I went whale watching, I went on a tour of the city, and I saw so many different awesome historical landmarks. Here is my journey in Boston, Massachusetts.

First, I went whale watching I had so much fun with this. First we went on a boat and then we went into the middle of the harbor and waited there for a little bit. Finally we could see the whales. The whales were so beautiful they were all different colors too. Blues, Blacks, and Whites. Every once in awhile you would get struck with water by there tails. The whole entire trip too and from the harbor took about three hour’s so if you are looking for an activity that is fun and takes some time then this is perfect for you!

Next, I went on a tour of the city. Boston is a beautiful city with so much pride and and just an amazing group of citizens. We went to the mall which was by far the most beautiful mall I have ever seen. At the mall there was so many stores I couldn’t decide which store to go to first. They had some regular stores that are pretty much everywhere but then they had so many cool trinket shops and just some amazing store’s that I think there should be more of in the world. If you are really looking to get some new stuff that you can’t find anywhere else Boston is the place to go. Also there are other cool things like Little Italy and Chinatown there too.

Finally, Boston is known for all of the historical things that happened there. We went on this historical tour where the group leader walked us all through the city and told us about each landmark I learned some pretty cool stuff on this tour. If you love history almost as much as I do you definitely have to come to Boston it is just filled to the top with history! Now you don’t have to go on the tour but I liked it better, that way I was getting even more information about this awesome city.

I hope that you take my thoughts into deep deep consideration. I would definitely give Boston a five star rating because there is just so much there. I haven’t even talked about everything yet and I bet you still want to come and check Boston out. I had an amazing time with my family here and I know you will too. So are you coming to Boston?

Economics?

For a couple of weeks now we have been talking about economics. Economics is, “the branch of knowledge concerned with the production, consumption, and transfer of wealth.” In economics there is things like goods, services, opportunity cost, supply and demand. Goods are anything that anybody wants or needs like groceries or a toy. Services show the performance of any duties or work for another. Next up is opportunity cost, opportunity cost is the money that is lost when pursuing a particular course of action instead of a mutually-exclusive alternative. Last but definitely not least is supply and demand. Supply means how many of something there is for somebody to purchase. Demand means how many people wish to buy that good or service.

In class we are doing checkbooks. You know how when your parents pay bills they usually use a checkbook. Well, we are doing something very similar. Every two weeks we get paid 879.16. After a couple days of getting paid we pay bills. We have to pay bills like electric, rent, gas, plumbing, sewer, and car insurance. Also last week we had to pay for groceries so that cost money as well. Every once in a while we get money for homework, one-hundred percent on vocabulary, bonus work, and many other things. These checkbooks have made me realize how much money things actually cost. It’s crazy how much things cost these days. I think when I grow up I will be a saver because you never know when a “rainy day” will come and you need some money.  It’s important to save for a “rainy day” because you do not want to go into dept.

Eleven…

In the passage Eleven, the author talks about their birthday and turning Eleven. The author does not want to be Eleven, she wants to be one hundred and two. She wants to be one hundred and two because then she will know why she didn’t answer Mrs. Price when she asked her about the red sweater and why she didn’t speak up in class. If I had to pick any age too be I would definitely be thirty-five because then I would have almost all of the rights of an adult. I could drive, vote, and even run for president. Those were just somethings that I would have the power to do but there is way more. What age would you like to be?

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! I love the New Year because you get to be able to set new goals and challenges that you would like to accomplish to make your life easier. My New Year’s resolutions are too be a little more organized especially at home. This will help keep everything clean and also it will help me to be able to know where my stuff is. My second New Year’s resolution is too be less of a procrastinator. Now I’m not that big of a procrastinator but I would like to stop putting things of to the last minute such as homework assignments or everyday chores. I really hope to accomplish these resolution’s. What are your New Year’s resolutions?

Would You Rather?

Would you rather not celebrate Christmas this year OR not celebrate your birthday this year?  WHY?

I would rather not celebrate my birthday because Christmas is so very special too me. I don’t get a lot of presents on my birthday anyways.  Also you would be celebrating Jesus birthday on Christmas anyway.  So I would rather just celebrate his birthday instead of mine. After all he is the reason why we have all of our stuff, and why we even have Christmas in the first place. Canceling Christmas to me is like canceling Jesus and I don’t want to do that.

Whats My Favorite Superhero?

My favorite superhero is The Flash. My favorite thing about The Flash is his superpower. He has the ability to go from place to place in the blink of an eye.  Studies show that Barry Allen “The Flash” is faster then a cheetah just while walking. The flash is apart of the DC Comic Book series. The Flash also has an awesome T.V show called “The Flash.” I look up to The Flash because he never gives up and is always trying to do his best at all times. This is why The Flash is my all time favorite superhero.
