Math Update-Module 1 Test

This week we are reviewing a Module 1 Review Guide for math to prepare for the module 1 test.  The past few weeks have been extremely busy!  Students rotated between direct instruction, collaborative and independent stations studying the skills and concepts for the current unit of study.  Students are striving to use their learning to:

  • Demonstrate an understanding that in a multi-digit whole number (through 1,000,000), a digit in one place represents ten times what it represents in the place to its right
  • Read and write whole numbers in expanded, standard, and word form through 1,000,000
  • Compare two-digit multi-digit numbers through 1,000,000 based on meanings of the digits in each place
  • Round multi-digit whole numbers (through 1,000,000) to any place.
  • Add and subtract multi-digit whole numbers (limit sums and subtrahends up to and including 1,000,000)
  • Estimate the answer to addition and subtraction using whole numbers through six digits

The test is scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday.

Language Arts

We are settling into our weekly routine for language arts.  Each Friday a home reading log is assigned and due the following Friday.  The assignment includes reading 100 minutes and writing a response.  The home reading log has multiple parts that need to be completed such as the title of the book, the number of pages read and the number of minutes read.  All reading logs require a parent signature.

Spelling words are sent home Thursday or Friday and the test is the following week, usually on Wednesdays.
