My Trip to Washington D.C!

Last Friday, I got to take a trip to Washington D.C! I had an incredible amount of fun! Not to mention that I got to communicate with my friends while on that trip!

I got up at 5:15 in the morning, so I was pretty tired. I ate my breakfast and hurried to find the proper clothes. Since we had to wear a NHES shirt having all the student names, I decided on a simple pair of black pants, and after that I got my shirt on. As soon as I was finished with that, I brushed my hair and packed what I needed in a small gray bag: My tablet, charger, earbuds, lunch, water bottle, and a little wallet with $20. After I got everything packed, my mom dropped me off at school. I went to my chaperone, Kristen and her grandfather, and waited for the buses to arrive.

On the trip. I mostly read books on my tablet or played games. Sometimes I dozed off only to wake up 10 minutes later. The bus had no charging stations, sadly, so I had to be careful how much battery I drained. After the 3 hour long drive. We finally arrived in Washington D.C.

We were able to go to the memorials. Fun Fact: Many of my relatives served in the military and my great-grandfather served in the Korean War and WWII (World War 2!) We went to the Korean Memorial and saw the faces on the wall and the statues in the field. I was tempted to touch them. We then went to the Lincoln Memorial. Man, I knew that the statue was huge, but I didn’t know it was THAT huge!  We then went down to the Vietnam Memorial and saw all the sites. It was so much fun!

After that, we got back on the buses and drove past the White House. We stopped at the Museums. Me and my chaperone went to the Natural History Museum. We got to see preserved animals set up to look like a scene. I saw a huge jellyfish at the sea animals section. We then decided to go to the cafe and get something to eat. I got ice cream. After that, we got to see the hope diamond and many other beautiful gemstones.

After our long trip through the museum. (My feet felt like they were on fire) We went to a refreshments stand and I got a sprite and french fries. I fed the birds that were on the ground. Because if no human will be my friend, then I will be friends with the birds! It was nice taking a break.

After eating, we headed back to the museum to wait for the buses to take us home. The wait was horrible, considering I had to wait and I couldn’t sit anywhere because the steps were wet. Finally, the buses arrived and we headed home.

And that was my trip to Washington D.C!

The Youth Group All-Nighter!

Okay, you probably read the story about my trip back to youth group, but have you heard about the all-nighter? Well, that’s why I’m here!

It all started when we arrived at my church. I go to Christian Fellowship Church. Many of my friends came, including Maddy Gher and Noah. I had my bag packed with extra socks, two Dork Diaries books, my drawing tablet, my night medicine, and the movie Sing. Since I didn’t have a sleeping bag, one of the teachers gladly allowed me to use one. Girls slept in the 4th grade classroom, while the boys slept in a smaller room. Our leader, Mr. Steiner, told us all the rules we needed to follow. We were going to a bowling alley later. Most of the boys hung out in the gym, playing basketball. While the girls mostly stayed inside the 4th grade classroom, like me. I was passing time by drawing. Soon enough, it was time to head to the bowling alley. Mr. Steiner had most of the students packed into his big van. One of the helpers had 6 more students in his van. While Mrs. Judy took me and 3 other girls into her car. I had tons of fun talking with the girls that I was sitting next to, we talked and talked and talked until we got there. One of  the girls ran super fast while we were all trying to catch up to her. When we got into the bowling alley, we had to change into proper footwear. I put on my extra pair of socks on and then my shoes. (I’ll admit it was a little difficult finding a shoe my size.) After we all got our bowling shoes on, we headed to our lanes. One time, I scored 5 strikes! I was getting hungry, so I went to buy some french fries and a blue raspberry slushie. I ate my food and watched my friends bowling. After that, we went to the arcade. Sadly, I didn’t get to play any games, I didn’t have enough money. After that, we all went back to church.

After we went back to church, things started getting crazy. Heck, the all-nighter was even more crazier than my whole family put together! So, one of the helpers put a movie on, although most people weren’t paying any attention. The boys were playing basketball in the gym, as usual, and the girls were in the 4th grade classroom doing crafts and eating snacks. We made our own ornaments by using styrofoam balls, pins, and sparkles. Some girls pretended that the styrofoam was snow, and was sprinkling it all over each other’s heads. I accidentally poked myself with a pin, but that was okay. After doing a craft, I decided to draw for a while. Soon enough, Noah barged in (At youth group, we blame Noah for everything, it’s honestly hilarious,) And he started making jokes and being regular Noah. Judy announced that we were making cookies, and she took me and my friends with her. But here is where things started getting really crazy! Since most of us were on a major sugar buzz from eating tons of sweets, we were obsessed with caffeine, we started screaming caffeine nonstop, and pretending to order caffeine from the phone that was in the kitchen. Kaleigh started going crazy with the large pieces of silverware in the drawers. And we started sliding all around the floor. Although it was crazy, I had tons of fun screaming caffeine and sliding on the floor!

I fell asleep an hour later, and Noah wanted to draw on my face, but Judy had to stop him. I soon realized that most girls ended up falling asleep too. We were awaken by Judy, although Kaleigh rolled over and ignored Judy. We had a breakfast of pancakes and bacon. Soon enough, my mom came to pick me up, and I got to tell her about the crazy all-nighter at church!

The Weird Waddingtons

Let me tell you about a time which my family acted totally CRAZY! It all started at a cook-out at my grandpa’s house. My cousins were invited along with some cousins I never got to know. I got along with them pretty well. But after a little while, things started to get a little…um….CRAZY!

They were all running around screaming and baaing back at sheep who were in the fields next to us. They started to try climbing up the trees and sliding down the poles. They started meowing because they thought they were talking cat language, they also barked because they also wanted to speak dog language. They totally got obsessed with everything cute, so they screamed like maniacs when they saw a baby. I was totally confused, my cousins were acting berserk!

After they all settled down (finally!) Their parents briefly explained that they gave them  some  candy, and that they made a big mistake doing that. I was totally surprised, who knew that small amount of candy could cause kids to go so berserk and uncontrollable? It was pretty funny to watch my cousins act like maniacs, but I’m sure I don’t want that to happen again.

My Baby Cousin!

Since I have nothing to do, I decided to make a post about my adorable baby cousin, Kennedy.

Kennedy Jewel is my baby cousin. And she is absolutely ADORABLE! She has cute blue eyes, she waddles around when she walks, her laugh sounds like music, and she is very funny. She really loves me, every time I’m around her she cracks a huge smile. She laughs when I laugh, and she is comforted by me when she is crying. She also laughs when I tickle her, but she doesn’t laugh when her mom tickles her. I play with her a lot. She makes me happy, and I make her happy.

This is a Book You Gotta Read!

It is my opinion that you should read Bud, Not Buddy by Christopher Paul Curtis. This story takes place during the Great Depression in Flint, Michigan. Bud, the main character, is a 10 year old foster child who is mistreated by his foster families. He decides to run away and find his father because his mother died when he was very young. He struggles through many events and eventually finds the family he’s looking for. You will enjoy this book because it has a lot of emotions blended in, realistic scenes, and amazing cliffhangers.

The story of the book is very unique is it will make you want to read more so you know what’s going to happen next. The story will make you feel a wide range of emotions as you read. Like you might feel happy, sad, shocked, surprised, and other emotions that will make you say, “I wonder what will happen next.”

The author made the characters and scenes sound realistic, the book gives you details about each characters that pops up in the story and each scene that goes on. In fact, you can picture what happens in the story with such detail. It can make you feel like you were in the times that Bud lived in, with the fact that there wasn’t modern technology, and lots of other things that will give you the fact that this wasn’t taken place in modern days.

The author put a lot of cliffhangers, which can get a little annoying, but it will make you want to read more. The cliffhangers add a hint of mystery, because you might not know what will happen next until you read more. One of the examples of a cliffhanger was when it was about to get to the good part but then the chapter ended, so that is an example of a cliffhanger.

So that’s my opinion on why you should read Bud, Not Buddy. As you can see, the author put a lot of hard work and time into making this book. The amount of detail and feeling this book has, you should read it because I am sure you will not regret it!

Expository Writing: Being a Chef!

To become a chef, you need character traits such as being organized. You should be organized so you can keep track of ingredients and recipes.

You would need to cooperative so you can be able to work with other chefs easily and be able to not have to work alone.

You need to be energetic because being a chef requires  you to have a lot energy, so get a good night’s sleep or drink energy drinks just in case. I personally think that I have all the character traits needed to become a chef in a restaurant. And I will show you why.

I can be very organized under situations, When I need to be organized, I will be organized. I will always organize stuff in a order, something you need to be a chef, knowing the order of ingredients. I’d say that my organization skills will help me greatly with my career as a chef.

If you thought I was only organized than you’re wrong. I also  am very cooperative with cooking. If I need to cook with somebody, I will cook with somebody. To be a chef, you need to be able to work with other chefs in the restaurant and cook together. I possess this character trait, also. I’m always willing to work with anybody. (Unless it’s somebody who isn’t very nice to me.)

Besides being organized and cooperative, I am very energetic. Even if I don’t get much sleep, I’m still pretty energetic. You need a lot of energy because you’ll will need to do lot of stuff on your feet, from getting ingredients or cooking, you need to have a lot energy. Since I am very energetic, a job as a chef would be perfect for me.

As you can see, I have many of the character traits needed to become a chef. I am very organized, cooperative, and energetic. And so I would be perfect for a job as a chef. If you have all these character traits, and maybe you could become a chef, too.

Why You Should Celebrate Dia De Los Muertos Instead of Halloween.

Dia De Los Muertos! If you don’t know what that is, it’s Mexican for the Day of the Dead. It’s for people to attend a huge party to commemorate the loss of loved ones. (You may also see a ghost!) They have food, drinks, parades, dances, and a lot of other things, too! You may be asking me: “Why would celebrate Dia De Los Muertos when I could just celebrate Halloween instead?” (Because Dia De Los Muertos is at midnight on October 31st.) Well let me show you why.

Reason #1: In Dia De Los Muertos, you get NO candy, I know that sounds nightmarish, but isn’t commemorating your loved ones a LOT more important than candy? Besides, there are lots of other tasty foods at Dia De Los Muertos festivals. Such as “bread of the dead,” which is a sweet and egg-rich bread. Sugar skulls are given to children, their kinda like a cookie, and their names are sometimes written on them. Mole is the national dish of Mexico and is served on holidays. A tamale is something wrapped up and looks like a burrito. If you eat too much candy during Halloween, you could get very sick, and nobody wants to get sick, right?

Reason#2: In Dia De Los Muertos, you’ll never run out of entertainment! There’s a ton of dancing and you’re always busy! You can watch the parades that stroll through the streets, you can look at the ofrendas, which is an altar to commemorate loved ones, you will be occupied by delicious food. Sure, you will be entertained during Halloween, but your feet will be in serious pain from walking all the time! Seriously, when I was done Trick Or Treating, my feet were aching!

Anyway, I hope you understand my reasoning of why Dia De Los Muertos is the holiday you should celebrate on October 3st instead of Halloween.

Global Goal 13: What is Climate Change?

You may wonder why climate change is so important. You may be asking: “Why are we even talking about climate change?” Well, I’ll show ya why. In the past 200 years, the climate on earth has been changing significantly. There are many reasons why this is happening. Pollution has a significance in climate change, especially air pollution, which is given of by factories and vehicles. Yes! Your or your parent’s car pollutes the air, causing climate change. But the vehicles are not the biggest air polluter,  it’s factories. Factories give of tons of steam and smoke from producing things that WE use. That steam and smoke gets up in the air, causing climate change. Methane is a type of gas that produces when animals give off gas, yes I know that sounds pretty disgusting, but it does cause climate change, so it’s also a little bad. The methane and carbon dioxide, which is caused by greenhouse gases, traps heat from the sun, causing climate change. This is called the Greenhouse Effect. Even though this might seem impossible to reverse to you, you can actually do something about it. You can reuse stuff and use organic stuff to solve this problem. Even though it will take decades to solve, people are already doing something about it!

My Weekend!

Last Saturday, My Grandma Barb and my Aunt Joyce came to pick me and my mom up to take us to lunch. We went to this place called Cracker Barrel. We went there for lunch. When we got there, We went in the shop part. We were soon escorted to our table. I noticed a dessert menu that had Gingersnap Crumble Custard. But we weren’t here to order dessert, we were here to get lunch. My mom ordered some food from the breakfast menu, Aunt Joyce was only allowed to have a cup of food so she got smaller versions of what she ordered, I don’t exactly remember what my Grandma Barb ordered, and I ordered chicken tenders and fries with BBQ sauce. I LOVED the food! It was super delicious! After lunch, we decided to do a little shopping. Grandma Barb got me a pretty heart case made with only glue and beads, she also got me a pretty book made with glitter glue and more beads. Aunt Joyce, I think, got me gummi candy corn. After we left, we stopped at the nearby Sheetz because we didn’t have a drink for one hour. My mom got some Sprite, Grandma Barb got some Pepsi, I think, I don’t remember what Aunt Joyce got, and I got Pumpkin Pie Milk. The milk was really tasty. We went home and said our goodbyes.

Thank you for watching!

First Day Back at Youth Group!!

On Wednesday it was my first day back at Youth Group! My mom’s landlord, Sheeran, came to pick me, my best friend Love, and her little brother, Logan. Since Love was in Middle School, she went to the 7th grade classroom. Me and Love both had to go to the gymnasium to get to our classes. Since I was in 6th grade, I was still in Mr. Steiner’s classroom. There were 5 familiar faces I could see in my classroom: Keira, Kaileigh, Maddy Gehr, Noah, and Brayden. Madison gave me a really pretty loom bracelet, which I have yet to wear to school. We sometimes get candy. But the only candy in the large bin was Smarties and Dum Dum lollipops. The youth group was super fun. We got to play a game in the gym. When it was time to go home. I was super upset. But I looked forward to next Wednesday!
