Is DEFORESTATION An Issue Kids Should Worry About?

Deforestation is when forests are getting cut down to make cities, farming and paper.  I think kids should worry about deforestation because, more than 2,000 of the 3,000 identified plants with cancer fighting properties grow only in rainforest.  If we cut all of it down we won’t be able to heal the people who have cancer.

I think kids should worry about deforestation is  if deforestation continues at its current rate it will take less than 100 years to destroy all the rainforests on earth!    ( That’s pretty bad! )  If we have no rainforest the air would be really sloppy.

Another reason why kids should worry about deforestation is, forests covers about 30% of the earth. Forests hold 70% of the world’s plants and animals.  ( That’s a lot! ) If we cut down forests a lot of animals will become extinct.

Also another reason why kids should worry about deforestation is an estimation of 18 million acres of the world’s forest are being destroyed each year.  That’s close to the size of South Carolina. ( That’s gigantic! )  If we lose all the forest then animals will become extinct.  And there will be no plants nor animals left on the planet.  NO ZOO’S! Because they won’t be able to find the animals that go to the zoo. People argue with this because loggers will have to lose there jobs.

Another reason why kids should worry about deforestation because the biggest direct cause of tropical deforestation is subsistence agriculture, converting the land into pasture for livestock or to grow crops for one’s family.  I think we should try to find land without cutting down forests, if we can’t discard of buildings we don’t really use.

That is what I think about deforestation.

Extra! Extra! Read All About It… Why In The world Is Abraham Lincoln The Best President?

president-391128_640

Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809, in Hodgenville Kentucky. He also was president on, March 4, 1861-April 15, 1865.  I think Abraham Lincoln is the best president because he lead the Civil War in April 12, 1861- May 9, 1865.  He’s also ended slavery.  Slavery is when black people were forced to work for white people in the olden days.Fun Fact, Abraham lincoln was the tallest president so far at 6ft 4inches tall.  Another fun fact, Abraham Lincoln was the 16th president of the United States of America.

Next, The Gettysburg Address is a speech that Abraham Lincoln said on November 19, 1863.  It was delivered by Lincoln during the American Civil War.  After it was delivered army’s defeated those of the Confederacy at the Battle of Gettysburg.  Abraham Lincoln carefully crafted the address.  Secondary to other presentations that day.  Was one of the greatest and most influential writings of national purpose.  In just two minutes Lincoln read the Gettysburg Address.

Last,  Who assassinated Abe Lincoln and why?  We are going to answer those question.  John Wilkes Booth killed Abe Lincoln.  He killed Abe Lincoln on April 14, 1865 in a theater with his wife.  He used a .44 caliber derringer pistol- a small, easily concealed handgun- Booth fired a single shot.  He shot when everyone was laughing so no one could hear the noise of the gun.  He shot Lincoln in the head and hit his brain and escaped into the darkness of the night.

Agriculture, Abraham Lincoln was the only president to established the Independent Department of Agriculture.  On May 15, 1862.

Lincoln established the USDA

Pass The Turkey And Gravy!

What I do during Thanksgiving break.  On the first day of the Thanksgiving break.  We get our food ready for us to bring to my aunt Keri’s house.  My dad would always make his delicious stuffing it is really good.  We will go to my aunt Keri’s house my cousins Kailie and Rylie will be there.  There is this hole at her house that we like to play  in I can fit in it the hole is sorta small.  Before we go we are going to eat a very light lunch because we don’t eat until about 4:30 or 5:00 P.M.  My aunt Keri’s house is pretty big.  At Thanksgiving we have turkey, gravy, potatoes, green beans, corn, casserole, sauerkraut and peas.  For drinks we all start with water.  Then we can get water, lemonade, tea or maybe soda.  The adults talk while the kids play games like tag, hide and seek, American football and other fun games.   Those are my Thanksgiving traditions!

The Man Who Named The Clouds! ( Poem! )

Born on November 28, 1772.

Looked up into the sky and saw the clouds glowing.

Had a journal with him too.

Heard the wind blowing the clouds were going.

Wanted to name the clouds like a hunting hound.

Found a cloud that looked like a bunch of balls stacking.

Looking in the sky he heard a delightful sound.

Looked at another that looked like an egg cracking.

He named one of the clouds Cumulo Cirro Stratus.

Named another one of the clouds Cirro Cumulus.

.Another cloud named Cirro Stratus.

Another cloud Cumulo Stratus, the clouds are endless

Luke wrote an essay.

The essay went to a museum.

The essay was written in grey.

They would see who wrote it and see him.

That is the poem about the man who named the clouds.

Week-9 Blog challenge: Extra! Extra! Read About Easter!

Easter is a time when the Easter bunny comes and hides eggs inside or outside.  It is a fun time because you get to find plastic colorful eggs with either candy or money inside.  Or if you’re lucky you might get a note from the Easter bunny. ( If you’re lucky I said, but you must be really good to get a note also. )

We celebrate Easter because, the New testament states that the resurrection of Jesus.  And is a foundation of Christian faith.  Jesus Christ and his the promise of eternal life.  People believe  the word Easter comes from the pagan holiday honoring eostre the pagan goddess of Spring

which symbolized rebirth.

Others believe the word Easter comes from the German word eostarun meaning dawn and white.  Easter is celebrated at the end of Lent on the last day of Holy Week.  Holy Week starts off with Palm Sunday the following Good Thursday the day of the Last Supper, Good Friday the day of Jesus crucifixion and Sunday the day Jesus rose which is now the celebration of Easter.

What is your favorite holiday and why?
