Emily Ferris – Marketing & Business Internship

Interning is a special opportunity for any student. It is an open door to future career paths and a better understanding of work environments. I am currently interning at Eagle Wings Business Network, or EWBN. We are located on Shirk Road, in New Holland. This internship has taught me many things about marketing, advertising, and different ways to grow a business. These are fundamental skills for the job I want to pursue through and after college.

Some of the daily routines and tasks I complete include checking emails related to marketing, running social media accounts such as Instagram or Facebook, and planning posts to share on them. I am constantly organizing things like files, bills, and different calendar events. Besides those everyday activities, I am constantly planning, working on, and discussing projects to build business growth.

Projects are what consumes most of my time at EWBN. A large part of marketing and advertising is figuring out what will grab the attention of most consumers. Our company targets people from ages 20-30, and 45-60. This is very important for advertising, as these age groups are reached by some forms of media more than others. It would be a great choice to place ads on a radio station or podcast, rather than a video game, because of the people we want to reach. I am presently participating in and have completed projects like banners, put together and edited photo collages of decks we have remodeled, created a gallery, and designed a pamphlet. These goals we have reached help get the name of our business into the community and bring more consumers to our door. This is the ultimate goal of any marketer.

This internship has taught me a lot and is going to teach me much more. It has made me realize not only did I have the right idea about what I wanted to do as a career, but it made me want to learn more about it sooner. The activities that I do at EWBN excite and engage me, and I believe these things will help me achieve and perform great things in my future job paths.
