Jenna Muttik – Lawyer Internship

I’m Jenna Muttik and I am an intern at Smoker Gard Associates LLP in New Holland, Pennsylvania. I have done a variety of different job duties and routines and some projects in my time here. I have also grown from this experience and learned so much. This has influenced my future career goals exponentially and I am very excited about my future career in law.

To begin, I had a variety of different duties and routines as well as projects. One duty I had almost daily was entering files into the computer system, adding name cards, and importing documents. This duty was to make the rest of the worker’s jobs a lot easier. Entering these files into the system helped improve the lawyers and paralegal’s job by giving them easy availability to files in their system rather than sorting through papers. Another job I had was to restock folders with the lawyer’s name cards in them so they can give them to clients. A project I worked on was writing letters and sending them to a group of people enrolled in a special program. This was a project because these letters are a process and need to be signed and then sent elsewhere to ensure their clients stay enrolled in this program. I am very glad to do these jobs to make the lawyers and paralegals jobs a little easier.

Additionally, from this experience, my knowledge and love of law has grown. I learned generally about real estate law and various types of family law and the typical documents and routines associated with each type. Some things I learned about were wills, easements, satisfaction pieces, and property sales. I also learned about how much research goes into real estate law. For example, information is needed on all properties on the land, wells, driveways, etc. As well as the size of the land, water, sewage, which county and bureau the land is in, etc. There is a lot of things that go into law and there is a lot of different processes to go through. I have grown a lot from this experience, and I am very thankful for this opportunity.

Through my daily duties, projects, and what I have learned this has influenced my future career goals extremely. This experience has only solidified my interest in the law and helping people. I also figured out that I am interested in family and criminal law more than real estate law because it deals with people more. I am very excited about my career in the field of law and this internship really helped me see what the field has to offer. Smoker Gard Associates LLP has given me a lot of insight and knowledge I am excited to use in my future.
