Overdrive

Overdrive is now available for students, teachers, and staff!  Overdrive allows you to access e-books for free. There are lots of titles for young readers and ones that will appeal to the older 5th and 6th graders.  The e-books can be read on a computer, e-reader, tablet, smart phones, and a variety of other devices.  If you have never read an e-book before, this is a good way to try one.

One of the easiest ways to find a book is to search by title, but you can also search by Interest level.  This is an easy way to find books for a student’s grade level.

The books are offered in the Lancaster-Lebanon Intermediate Unit 13 Digital Library.    It is easy to access Overdrive from the student Symbaloo page. You can all access the  IU Digital Library at http://iu13.lib.overdrive.com

Once you access the IU Digital Library, pull down the menu to get to Eastern Lancaster CountyUse your school user name and password.   When you find a title you like, click Borrow.   This will open the book in your web browser.   You can read it immediately, or wait until later.  It is a good idea to save the book in your favorites.  Once you close the book, you can open it back in Overdrive by choosing ACCOUNT. This will open your bookshelf.

If you need help accessing Overdrive on a specific device, such as a Kindle, IPAD, or Tablet, you can find directions at http://help.overdrive.com, or contact Mrs. Betzner in the library.

You can check out 3 items at a time, and most loan periods are 14 days.  If you are not finished with the book by the due date, you have to check it out again.

There is an Overdrive App BUT this is designed for Public Libraries.  If you use the App you need to create a user name and password different from the one you use at school.  You need to also have a public library card.  Once you have logged in you can ADD A LIBRARY.  You would choose the IU13 Digital Library, and need to log in again.

It is easier to bookmark the IU Overdrive site on your tablet, IPAD, or smartphone.  This gives you quicker access to the IU Digital link.  https://lancastlebpa.libraryreserve.com.
