Expanding a Journal Prompt

Who am I most thankful for in my family?

I am most thankful for my father. He is a great role model (at times🙄) and is so light hearted. He could care less about what others think. He always makes my mom and I laugh everyday. He is the best to be around when he’s angry at some inanimate object. Confused? Let me explain-

My dad is a machine guy. He  drag races, rides four wheelers, and loves anything that goes “zroom zroom”. One day, it had snowed a lot. So my dad, being the helpful human being he is, takes out his tractor and plows the neighborhood street. My dad is a very short-tempered person, too, so when he tries to turn the tractor but it won’t turn right, he gets so furious it’s funny. Things spill out like, “This piece of crap!” or “I need to sell this hunk of junk.”

And that’s why I love my dad. 😊

My New Year’s Resolution

Hey, folks.

I came here on my blog today to tell you all what my New Year’s Resolution is!

My resolution is to be more active and fit. In 2020, I feel all of us pretty much laid around and ate (But what else were we supposed to do?).

This year, I am making it up in my head to become for fit and active.🏃

Wishing my best 2021,

-Lexy

January 6

tonight. Prologue

Hey-

So this is a fanfiction twist on J.K Rowling’s Harry Potter, but in the American school, Ilvermorny. I hope you enjoy; let me know if I should post more.

Leto struggled as her dog’s paw lay across her chest. The fat, furry mut weighing around 90 pounds shaved about half of her weight on her. Huge, heavy wet drops of drool splattered over her newly purchased sweatshirt as her light brown hair covered her face.

“Beckett! Get off!”

The dog’s eyes slammered right on the ball. Beckett wanted it- and wasn’t going to stop until she got that ball.

“Fine. You win. Take your disgusting ball with you.”

As Leto threw the ball across the room, Beckett pounced and instantly ran into the Christmas tree that sat there, cool and chill. Wiping her face off, Leto looked at her mom. Her short, brown wavy hair seemingly bounced up and down as she held her camera, peeking behind it. “You know where that’s going, don’t you?”

“Facebook.”

“Yup! And your Aunt Bell, Beatrice and Uncle Bo are going to see!”

“No! Not Uncle Bo! He makes fun of me for practically everything!”

“Hey, at least it will start a conversation at our next family gathering.”

“Pfft.” Leto hissed.

Grabbing her white, faux fur blanket and sprinting towards her mom, eager for a fight, her mom instantly stuck her feet in the air. Leto rebounded backwards, tumbling onto the floor.

“Do you seriously think you can beat your mother who grew up with an older brother?”

But Leto didn’t give up. Running back at her with a battle stance, she stuck her hand in her blanket; making a shield. Charging, her hand hit her mother’s feet. Shocked, her mom  lifted her feet down and grabbed Leto by her waist. Dragging her across the living room floor,

Leto’s almost silent alarm went off. It was midnight- both parents in bed, dog asleep.

Let’s do this.

Grabbing her jacket and slipping on her boots, Leto braced and was ready for anything. The moon shone bright about the wintry scape. When Leto looked out the window, the lights were still there, flashing left and right. Sneaking down the hall, Leto held her breath as she passed Beckett. She looked up, and flopped back down on the floor. Leto sighed a sigh of relief- she was getting away with it!

Opening the door with a squeak, Leto slipped on her boots and ran down the stairs. The cold air punched her face as she felt cold gusts hitting her. She trudged through the 6 inches of snow that still lay on the ground, watching the light show continue on. This time, she could almost hear voices-

“-Back off! This is Drumble territory! You shouldn’t-”

Green light.

“-Watch the killing curse, Frayier, it’s pretty dangerous-”

“Cruci-”

White light.

“You don’t think I know the Repeal Charm-”

Leto sprinted to the forest. She needed to know who Frayier was, what “Drumble territory” was. This was her family’s property, if she knew anything. The voices became louder by the second: Leto kept running.

When she finally reached the back of the woods, she saw two men- one had bright baby blue eyes, quite wrinkly face, a long man ponytail, with a stick in his hand.

A stick?

The other had quite a furious completion, his eyebrows were always slanted down and he had dark, brown eyes. She assumed this was Freyier, since he kept on throwing lights out of his stick.

Leto stayed hidden. She didn’t know what these men were doing here- right in her woods! Wind hit the back of her back while she remained paralyzed in shock. And the men continued-

“Stup-”

“Repealio!”

The blue light rebounded off the white, glassy shield.

Leto laughed her heart out. Her mom had to be the best in the world- even though she could get just a little too rough.

“Give up?” her mom asked cockily.

“Never!”

Leto swung her blanket around her mom’s feet and pulled back, tripping her mother on her bottom. Leto got up instantly and tackled her mom.

“You give up?” Leto mocked her mom.

“Never!”

“C’mon, I’ve clearly got the higher ground.”

“Fine. You get the victory tonight. Now come on, it’s late, and you have school tomorrow.”

Leto got up, hugged her mom and darted to her room. Looking out the open window, he gazed up at the open skylight. Pennsylvania sometimes had the best views- and other times the worst.

The forest sat in the same place, quiet and chill. The wind brushed the leftover leaves of the wintry night. Staring, Leto felt something quite different that night. The forest didn’t seem as quiet as it usually was. She stared into the opening behind her father’s barn. Surely, something was there, intuition told her, it  longed to see something.

And she did.

A flare of red and white lights suddenly flashed.

Leto jumped.

Right and left, up and down. There was no explanation of what was happening. Her father had left the woods untouched, undeveloped, like a national park. So if there were lights, it didn’t make sense.

Leto starred as the light show continued. Red and white, green and blue, blue and purple. A thought crossed her mind-

Wizards. Witches. Dueling. A world beyond ours.

But it couldn’t be. Surely she had just read too much Harry Potter.

But there was no other explanation.

Leto jumped off her bead, slipped on her pajamas and turned out her lights. When her mom and dad were  asleep, she would go into the “park”  and take a look. She was certain it was just her eyes- but was it?

“Fraiyer, we know you’re here for the girl. She belongs in Ilvermorny, and nowhere else. For criminy sakes, she’s getting a fake wand for Christmas-”

“Avada Ked-”

“Repealio!”

The green light withered.

“Fraiyer, the girl belongs with me. Leave and all will be well. Letolious needs me.”

Frayier spoke.

“She is my cousin’s daughter’s friend! I must protect her from harm! She needs to stay in the Drumble world! It’s my job to protect her!”

“Frayier, she will be protected. Ilvermorny is the safest place in America. You can trust me, can’t you? Because due to recent results, I’ve blocked your Killing Curse about five times.”

Frayier lowered his stick.
“Can I say hello to her before she goes with you?”

“Of course.”

Leto’s jaw dropped. How did they know her name? Why are they there for her? And how did that Frayier know that her best friend was Kassity? What is Ilvermorny?

“Let’s go, Frayier. Remember, you must not fright the chil-”

“AHH!”

Leto screamed as the men came around the corner.

“Letolious, there you are. How much did you see?”

“Why are you here for me?” Leto’s voice was shaky.

“We’re here to tell you about a great opportunity. The chance of a lifetime. A new world. The Wizarding World of America sent you a letter, but because of Drumble spam mail filters, it could not get to you. So I decided to greet you myself,  along with Charms teacher, Professor Gilbert Frayier, although it wasn’t scheduled.” The man glanced at Frayier.

“You saw yourself true magic, right in front of your eyes. We will let your parents know that you have been enrolled and accepted. If that is, you accept. It is up to you.”

Leto starred wide-eyed at the man. He reminded her a lot of Dumbledore from Harry Potter. Despite that, she couldn’t believe it. She could be a part of something more- she had always loved adventures.

“Yes,” Leto replied. “But I need you to promise you won’t harm my family, Kassity, or my woods. Got that?”

“Yes, Miss Bard.”

Walking down the stone driveway, she looked at her house. Inside, she could almost see her parents sleeping soundly and Beckett, snoring her fur off.

“Can I take my dog? She’s always been there for me, and I think she should be now.”

The man looked at Frayier, and he shook his head. “Why, yes, I don’t see why not.”

Sprinting to the door, she called Beckett. She lunged and licked Leto smack dab in the middle of her face. She grabbed Leto’s leash, bag of food and food bowls. She hooked Beckett up to her leash.

Instantally, Beckett started barking at the men. “Beckett- stop! They’re friends.”

Beckett glanced up at Leto; trust and faith glittered in her eyes. She stopped her loud shenanigans.

“Thank you,” Leto sighed. “And, sir,”

“Me?” The pony dude asked.

“Yes, you, what is your name?”

“Oh, pardon me. My name is Ansel Albiloor. I am the Headmaster of Ilvermorny.”

Beckett laped Ansel in the face.

“How are we going to get to Ilvermorny?” Leto asked.

“Apparition,” Ansel replied with a smirk.

“Oh no. The Harry Potter books-”

“Yes, but they are mere fiction. This is real.”

Before Leto could respond, Ansel grasped her and before she knew it, she was flipping around in a black void of a world. She couldn’t feel anything but Ansel’s hand as they flew through what felt like never ending space.
