“Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us every day.” – Sally Koch

  • What does this quote mean to you?
  • How do you help those around you?
  • What is a “small opportunity” that you have around you to help someone else that you don’t take advantage of?  Why?

Well, I think this quote means that there are always opportunities as long as we are brave enough to find them. I don’t know! I guess I help others around me by not being rude to them and lending pencils to them. And I try to stay out of their way. That helps, right? I can’t think of a “small opportunity” that I don’t take advantage of. That’s probably why  I don’t take advantage of it. Anywho, that’s for reading this, people who read it. Bye, try to have a nice day.

An adventure for Payton (part three)

Sigh, we have to back to our classes. And it’s no fun to walk down this boring old hallway, walking in the same old boring line, in the same old boring way (with our hands at our sides and not talking). I just wish we could go home. As I enter my classroom, the loud speaker starts working up.

“Students! Today there will be a huge blizzard, so we will be sending you all home soon. Good riddance!! I mean, Goodbye!” Yes! We get to leave soon! But it’s only November 30th, how could there be a blizzard?

“Yayyyyyy!!!!!!” I hear from the classrooms surrounding me. Wait, there it is! My necklace is warm again! And how come whenever I wish some was different from the that it is, it changes. But why only today is this happening? I just don’t get it. We pack up our stuff and go to  the buses. I sit in my seat and then start reading my book, Midnight Moon.

“OMG, I can not believe that we are having a blizzard!” Says Klya.

“I know right?” I respond to her. Ouch! My necklace starts to burn hotter then the sun. What the heck!? The bus leaves the school just as snow starts to fall to the ground. I wish I had chocolate and that we could eat on the bus.

“OK kids, since we’re having a blizzard, I’m going to let  you eat on the bus!” The bus driver, Mrs. Crystal, says. Wow, we can eat on the bus? This. Is. Amazing! Klya digs through her book bag and pulls out chocolate.

“Want some?” She asks.

“Yes, please!” I answer. Klya gives me some of the delicious-looking chocolate and I take a big bite. My mouth fills with the wonderful taste of the chocolate Kyla gave me, then everything goes dark.

What’s happening?! Why is everything black?! Wait! I see something….but I can’t tell what it is, it’s too blurry. I snap back into reality. Whoa, that was so weird. What the heck happened?

“Payton, you OK?” asks Klya. “Because you just seem on edge all the sudden.”

“Oh, I’m fine! I was just amazed by the delicious taste of the chocolate you gave me.” I say. But am I really fine?

“OK, if you say so.” she says with a hint of unsure in her voice. The bus driver stops in front of Klya’s house. “Oh, well see you tomorrow Payton!” Klya bursts out the bus at lighting speed. Well, there she goes. I go back to reading my book.

A few minutes later it’s my stop. I get off the bus and walk down the driveway that leads to my house. As I open the door, I can hear my three little siblings  yelling and running around like wild beasts. So at least everything’s normal at home. I go to my room, trying to get away from the craziness. When I get into my room, I try to take my necklace off. It’s not coming off! WHAT DO I DO!!! WHATS GOING ON?!? THIS IS MADNESS!!! Breath. It’s probably just a rusty clip or something like that. Right?

“PAYTON! DINNER!” screams my mom.                                                                                                                                          “Coming mom!” I yell back. Well, at least I have something to do other than worry and panic. I walk into the dining room and the scent of the chicken that my mom made for dinner overwhelms me.

“SERIOUSLY,  MOM!?!? YOU KNOW I DON’T LIKE CHICKEN, UNLESS IT’S CHICKEN FLAVORED RAMAN NOODLES!!!!” I yell because I really hate chicken.

A Memoir

  • Which one of your parents are you most like? Include a description of the parent, so that we can picture them in our mind.  Use sensory language: see, taste, touch, smell, hear.
  • Who was your first best friend? How did they influence your life?  Include a description of your friend, so that we can picture them in our mind.  Use sensory language: see, taste, touch, smell, hear.
  • What will your obituary say about you? Include a description of you, so that we can picture you in our mind.  Use sensory language: see, taste, touch, smell, hear.

I think I look the most like my mom (but that’s just my opinion).  She has red hair ( because she dyes her hair, but besides that and her eye color I look like her.) and stone blue eyes.   My first best friend that I made in life was Grace Wells, from when I went used to go to at Calico Elementary School. She influenced my life by being my friend? She has white-blonde hair and bright blue eyes. My obituary would say that I was a human and I’m dead because that’s what obituary’s say about you. I have dark brown hair with blonde(ish) tips. I have green eyes but they sometimes change to green and hazel.  OK thats  all for now, good bye!

Economics

  • We have been learning about economics for a few weeks.  Now is your chance to tell us everything you know about economics!  Tell each other what you know about goods, services, opportunity cost, supply and demand, etc.  Talk about how your classroom checkbook and finance lessons have helped you gain more perspective to economic issues. Will you be a saver or spender when you grow up?

OK, so economics mostly has to do with money. Supply and demand is when you have a certain amount of  something(supply) and an amount of people that want that certain thing(demand). Here’s two examples : you know how the price of raspberries go up in winter time? That’s supply and demand! The supply is lower and there is always a lot of people who want raspberries(aka me), so the price goes up. If there is a large supply of  iPod 5’s , but some iPad company releases the new iPad 8 (I know. This isn’t supposed to be realistic), the demand for the iPod 5 will go down tremendously. So, as a solution, the price of  the iPod 5 will also go down a lot so people will buy it. Pretty crazy isn’t it? In ELA class, we are doing a classroom checkbook.  We pay bills, buy groceries, get paychecks and stuff like that. The point of it is to help us understand how economics pops up in our everyday life. I think i’ll be a saver, because I know things are really expensive and I would want to be careful not to spend too much on things I don’t need.

eleven

  • After reading the passage, Eleven, explain why the author does not like being age 11.
  • If you could choose any age to be, what would it be and why?

The author was not happy because her teacher was telling her that an sweater was hers and to put it on, but it’s not hers and the teacher doesn’t care.

If I could be any age I’d be 20.

December 21

Would you rather….. Christmas style!!!!!

  1. Would you rather have to loudly sing the chorus of Jingle Bells every time you walk into a room for a week OR have to wear a Santa suit to school every day for a week.  WHY?
  2. Would you rather visit the north pole OR visit Bethlehem? WHY?

Well, I’d rather loudly sing Jingle Bells every time I walk in a room because I love singing  Christmas songs and maybe someone would join in with me.                                                                                                                                                 Hmm, I’d rather go to Bethlehem because that’s where Jesus (and Jesus is awesome) was born and it wouldn’t be as cold there.

Okay, That’s a rap! I hope you will have an VERY Merry Christmas!!!!

Girl President?

  • Do you think a woman will be President of the United States in the near future? Support your argument with examples.

Well, duh. Of course there will be a woman president in the future! I can tell you that because as a fellow woman, we gals are awesome and smart. Woman are awesome because we can do anything and everything. I think a woman president would a good thing.

Good Bye peeps!

An adventure for Payton: Part 2

Gulp. I never got in trouble before. And Mrs. Carl only yells when she’s really mad. I rush to my seat and start my morning work. I HATE morning work, but I  don’t want to be in even more trouble. Lucky for me, we soon go to our ELA classes. When I walk in, Jorja is already at her seat ,so I walk over to her.

“OMG, Payton, I watched Mew Mew Power episode 12 last night and I CAN’T believe that Reneya is the last mew mew!!!!” Jorja happily jabbers.

“I know right!! Just wait ’till you get to episode 24!” I respond.

“SHUT UP PEASANTS!!!!” The teacher, Mrs. Russell yells because she hates us.

The whole class stops talking and it’s so quiet you can hear the mice squeaking in the walls.

“TODAY YOU SHALL BLOG AND DO YOUR PRESENTATIONS WHILE I EAT FOOD!!!!!”

Ugh, I hate blogging and I’m already done my presentation. In fact, everyone in this class is done their presentations. I log onto my computer and go onto my blog. What should I post? I’m not sure, and no ideas form. Kyla puts a post-it note on my desk. Wonder what it says this time? I read it and it says “go to the animal and candy slide”. I smile as I go to that slide and see that Kyla added a few new slides showing dogs. I add a few more slides showing cheetahs and candy . She passes me a Snickers bar. I whisper thank you and eat it. I love snickers bars, but since I am so hungry it tastes even better. I just hope we don’t get caught being on something that isn’t our blogs or presentations. Or get caught eating snickers. I add a few slides with chinchillas on them. Jorja comes on to and adds some slides too. After what feels like a thousand years, we finally go to lunch/recess.

“Hey, Mackenzie!” I shout.

“Hi!” She responds as she walks over to me.

“I’m bored, what do you want to do?” I ask.

“I don’t know Pay Pay, what do you want to do?”

“I DON’T KNOW!! THAT’S WHY I ASKED YOU!!! I yell.

“OM Goodness Payton.”

After a awhile we were finally brought inside for lunch. I looked into my lunchbox to see what my mom packed me.

“Hey Payton, do you have anything good to trade?” Mackenzie asks me.

I sigh as I answer her “No, I have nothing good at all.

“Oh, that’s too bad.” She responds. I wish I had a bag of Doritos or something other than cereal and a pizza lunchable. I hate both!! So what if i’m picky, I still want something  better than this. I reach inside to grab the cereal because I have to eat, but instead I grab a bag of Doritos! How is that possible?!

“Hey, I thought you said you had nothing good!” Mackenzie says.

“Well, I didn’t see these so don’t blame me!”

“OK………..want to trade those Doritos for two chocolate chip cookies?” She says slyly.

“Nope!” I say. “Any who, I have to hand out cupcakes!” I go to the classroom and grab the plastic bag that holds my homemade cupcakes. I peer into every classroom I walk by, to see what everyone is doing in their classes. And finally! I made it back to the cafeteria. I hand out the blue icing colored cupcakes out to everyone in my homeroom, leaving one for myself.

“Mmm!Payton, these are delicious!!”Mackenzie says with a mouthful of cupcake.

“Thanks!” I love it when people complement my cooking. My necklace starts to feel warm again. And when did it stop being warm? That’s really weird. I take a bite into one of the cupcakes I spent such a long time on to make perfect.

“Oh, you’re right, they are good!” I say, surprised at how tasty the cupcake is. Or should I say was because just like that, the cupcake I saved for myself become no more.

“Three minute warning people!” Shouts the lunch monitor. I only have three minutes?! I gobble up my lunch, and go stand in the line to go back to ELA. There! My necklace became at a normal temperature once again. Why does it keep going warm and back to normal???

Alright, I’m sorry but you’re going to have to wait ’till part three to find out how she gets her powers!

November 10

Personal blogs

  1. Write about something you desperately wanted as a child but never received.

Well since i’m still a child, I really want a YouTube channel but my mom says no. She said and says no. Also we have no computer or camera to make videos. My parent’s refuse to get a computer nor any sort of camera, and I don’t have the amount of money I need to buy ether. So I will probably never got a YouTube channel.

Good Bye!!!
