There are some exciting events happening at Brecknock this week. The first is the Box Top Store today. If your child brought in box tops, they’ll get to go to the store to shop. On Thursday, Joe Calhoun from WGAL will be coming in the morning to talk to the school about weather. It should be fun and exciting!
As a reminder, Donuts with Dads is November 21st before school. If you’re interested in attending, please return the blue form along with $1.
Here is what we’re working on during classes this week:
Language Arts: Our story this week is called The Breman Town Musicians. We will be continuing work with cause and effect, and we will also be examining how story structure can help us to better understand stories. Our spelling words this week focus on making singular words plural.
Math: We’ve been working on measurement, and will continue to do that this week. We’ll be working on using different units of measurement like inches and centimeters. The students will also be learning how to make accurate estimates of how long an object might be. Students will also be taking the pre-test for Unit 3-Place Value. Minute to Win It will continue on as usual.
Science: This week, we’ll be wrapping up life cycles. We’ll be getting our eggs this week, so we can start the hatching process. The life cycles test will be at the end of the week. The study guide should have been sent home at the beginning of the unit, so make sure to help your child study.
