We had another great week in third grade! The students are learning and growing everyday. I can’t believe it has already been a month since the start of the school year.

Reading: In reading this week, we read a tall tale titled Kumak’s Fish. The students continued to work on sequencing events in a story as well as visualizing. We had fun learning about life in the Arctic too! This week our focus skill will be comparing and contrasting.

Writing: We are still moving along with our personal narratives. The students had an opportunity to share their writing with their classmates and everyone was so respectful in their feedback. I’m excited to see the finished pieces!

Math: This week we worked with money. The students reviewed dollar and cents notation, comparing money amounts, and making change. These are skills we will continue to work on in small groups. We are almost finished with the first unit so a test will be coming up within the next two weeks. This week we will continue with money as well as frames and arrows.

Science: The students had a blast as we joined Mrs. Stoppi’s class once again for another experiment. We worked through the scientific method to determine the density of different objects. The students got to work with test tubes, beakers, and even wear lab goggles! We will be continuing with the scientific method next week and soon will be moving to agriculture.
