We had another great week in third grade! The students continue to show how respectful and responsible they are everyday.

Reading: This week in reading, we read a story titled What About Me? and focused on sequencing. We will continue to work with that skill this week as well as visualizing. The students did an awesome job with our phonics skill of -s, -es, and -ies endings. We also had some fun with compound words!

Math: In math, we continued our review unit and touched on topics such as tally charts, line plots, finding differences, and probability. We will work with money this week.

Science: Last week, we continued our work with Scientific Method. On Friday, Mrs. Stoppi’s class joined us for an experiment on density. We got to work with corn syrup, dish soap, water, and vegetable oil. The students LOVED watching the liquids separate and layer as they observed and gathered data. We will still be focusing on Scientific Method this week with more fun experiments.

Writing: We are still working on narrative pieces which are coming along nicely. The students are working hard to organize their thoughts into five paragraphs. I’m excited to read their finished stories!

Odds and Ends: Please continue to check your child’s homework sheet each night. They will almost always have a reading assignment, spelling practice, and math work. Just a reminder, if your child completes their spelling practice orally, please send in a note (on the homework sheet is fine). I collect spelling homework each morning.Overall the students have been great with getting their assignments completed. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Thank you,

Miss Gentile
