Trumpet

As you may have seen in my About Me page, I play the trumpet. I play in the Spartan Band at school. I play with other people who play instruments in my school district, who are in 5th or 6th grade. I also play in the Jazz band. In Jazz band, I get to play extra music. I can also play with the Cadet band when I’m in Jazz band. I love playing my trumpet in bands with others.

“The College Trip”

We went to Alvernia college,

Where people gain lots of knowledge,

To get their dream job,

So they wouldn’t have to marry a snob.

We arrived late because of the hold up.

Most parents brought a coffee cup.

The trip was very fun,

although it was cold and we couldn’t see the sun.

We ate the pizza, it had a great taste.

After that, we heard shoes moving with great haste.

‘Twas the basketball game had started in the gym.

The  ball was thrown and bounced off the rim.

We visited the library earlier on.

We smelled the new book called the “Geological Phenomenon.”

The college trip was amazing,

So it got a lot of praising.

Messenger

Messenger is also a “Companion to The Giver,” as I have said before in my Gathering Blue post. This is actually a series of books. In it there is The Giver, Gathering Blue, Messenger, and Son. I’ve read all of them now except for Son. Anyway, these books are written by Lois Lowry, who I think is an amazing writer. Messenger is about a boy named Matty who has to save Kira, who is the daughter of the Seer, a blind man who has taken care of Matty for half of his life. But, he has to go through Forest, a very dangerous place where the plants seem to have a mind of their own. Will they make it back to Village alive before the wall is built? I guess you’ll have to find out in Messenger.

Son

Okay, now I’ve finished the Giver series. The last book was, as you can probably guess, called Son. This one had two parts. It had one when Claire, the main character, was young and had a son in her “community.” The other part is where she goes off to look for her son, who got taken away from her when he was born because that’s how the community worked. Read the story to find out if she finds her son and becomes happy again.

My New Room

This week, for Christmas, my parents redid my whole room. I was so excited! It’s blue now, and we rearranged the furniture and made the ceiling look nice. Before, the walls were pink and purple and the ceiling had stains from water damage on it. I’m very excited about my new room!

When I Grow up…

When I grow up, I want to be either a pediatrician or an elementary teacher. I think that I would be good at these jobs because I’m very organized and can be pretty  social. I also love working with kids, which would be good, considering that pediatricians are kid doctors, and elementary teachers are teachers that work in the school with younger kids. I am also a very fast learner, so I could learn how to be good at either of these jobs. So, I think that when I grow up, I want to be either a pediatrician or an elementary teacher.

Global Goals Project

Over the last month, our Social Studies class has done a big project. This project was about the global goals. If you don’t know what the global goals are, they are a list of 17 problems that people around the world are trying to solve by 2030. We were learning about how we could help with these goals. We had to make a product or service, and a sales pitch to try to sell your “business.” My friend and I came up with an idea to make an air filter that you could put on a factory pipe or exhaust pipe on a car. It would change the smog and smoke into good oxygen. I think this was a fun project.

Escape from Mr. Lemoncello’s Library

This week, I read the book “Escape from Mr. Lemoncello’s library. It was a great book. If you are interested in problem solving and adventure, like me, you would love this book. It’s about a boy who won a contest, so he gets to spend a night in a new library donated by a world-wide famous game maker. You may be able to guess what happens next…

Gathering Blue

This week I’m reading Gathering Blue. It’s a book about a girl named Kira, who has a twisted leg that can’t be fixed. She lives in a world with only fear that keeps people alive. This is a “Companion to The Giver,” another book that I’ve read. Kira has a special and amazing talent that both keeps her alive, now that her mother died, and brings her some certain privileges…
